Felix Alexa

Felix Alexa was born on November 8, 1967 in Bucharest.

After his debut as a student at the Bucharest National Theatre in 1991, as an invitee of Andrei Șerban, he staged dozens of performances for the most important theatres of Bucharest and nationwide. In 1992 he worked as Peter Brook’s assistant at the Bouffes du Nord theatre in Paris. He conducted workshops in Sydney, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, New Delhi, Singapore.

His most important shows include „The Cherry Orchard” by. A. P. Chekhov, „The Suicide” by Nikolai Erdman, „A Stormy Night” by I. L. Caragiale, „A Midsummer Night’s Dreamby W. Shakespeare, „The Inspector General” by N. V. Gogol, „Terrorism” by the Presnyakov brothers (Bucharest National Theatre), „Death of a Salesman” by Arthur Miller, „The Chairs” by Eugene Ionesco (Bulandra Theatre), „Fireface” by Marius vonMayenburg, „The Sebastian Mistery” based on a script by Stelian Tănase (Odeon Theatre), „Playing the Victim” by the Presnyakov brothers, „The District Hospital” by Hristo Boychev (Metropolis Theatre), „Diary of a Madman” by N. V. Gogol (ArCuB).

He is a professor at the National University of Theatre and Film in Bucharest where he runs a directing class.

He has won many awards, among which the Critics’ Award, UNITER Debut Award, Ministry of Culture Best Stage Director and Best Show Award, Directing and Best Show Awards in the Festival of Contemporary Drama in Brașov, Generation 2000 Award. He is a Knight of the Cultural Merit Order.
