Flies, Chaff and Whipping by Lia Bugnar – a random page from the lives of young people who dream of becoming actors.

Fourteen destinies at the beginning of their journey, when everything is possible, when the future is still a lottery in which you haven't chosen the numbers, when each small event can be the one that instigates the great future events of their lives. Someone said about Flies, Chaff and Whipping that it should be the young actor's signature show. The show has the same ingredients Lia Bugnar usually puts in her plays: some love, some lies, some truth, a pinch of humor, a few tears, a handful of songs, all sprinkled on a dough of good acting.

The 2nd year acting master class is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the great director Silviu Purcărete, with the idea that he will stage a test performance in their class. Just when he is due to appear, news comes that the great director is ill and can no longer come. Instead, the class teacher gives them a call and tells them the play to be staged and the cast. With few exceptions, everyone feels wronged, everyone feels cast far below what they think they are entitled to. An argument inevitably breaks out and, in addition to the topic that triggers it all, lies, betrayals, frustrations, feelings not confessed in time, and more, come to light.

Lia Bugnar: "Flies, Chaff and Whipping is my most beautiful play, the most tender, the most sweet, the most unpredictable, the most comic, the saddest and the truest. The ingredients of the play are no different than what I usually put in: some love, some lies, some truth, a pinch of humor, a few tears, a handful of songs, all sprinkled on a dough of good acting.”

Anghel Damian: "Flies, Chaff and Whipping is a show about love, ideals, dreams and disappointments. I laughed, I cried and I went home with hope for the future, the profession and the people."

Marius Manole: "Flies, Chaff and Whipping is called the show that made me cry and laugh, question and be proud to be an actor, perhaps the most beautiful profession in the world. One by one, I loved them all, I loved them all together. It's a wonder they got to perform on a professional stage, that they got to perform with a live audience. The theatre is alive, the theatre is good, the theatre is all kinds of beautiful. Thank you, Lia Bugnar, for your work and for the way you have taken care of them.”
