The world seen through the eyes of a "madman", played magnificently by Ion Grosu, a world developed from inside the "madman", with what he sees, hears, feels, thinks and lives, in an adaptation of 3 novels by N. V. Gogol
How a man goes mad, how we look at him and how (or if) we understand such a man, what world he shows us, what parallel universe he takes his steps into and what end awaits him.
These are just some of the aspects taken into account when N. V. Gogol's three novels: "The Diary of a Madman", "The Overcoat" and "The Nose", adapted by Constantin Venerus Popa, were transformed into a performance by director Vasile Toma.
All three full of mystery and constantly swinging between surrealism, absurdism, even realism and not infrequently seasoned with a particular humor.
The experiences of a mentally ill person, with all the hallucinations, delusions, or disorders of judgment, affectivity or behavior represent a world apart, alive and real for the patient, but full of mystery, fear and even repulsion for others.
The performance shows us the world through the eyes of the "mad" Popriscin Popriscin "developed" from within himself, with what he sees, hears, feels, thinks and experiences.
Even if we, "normal" people, do not understand the ordeal of the days of such a sick person, we have even less right to condemn him or to mock him. After all, he is our fellow human being, he is a HUMAN being, a universe. How can you laugh or mock the Universe when you have no idea who or what you really are?
