Christmas would not be the same without the voice that, for over three decades, has become the soul of Romanian carols—Stefan Hrusca. This year, the artist returns to the stage with a recital of carols meant to bring us closer to the essence of the holiday and the unaltered beauty of traditions. For Hrusca, each carol is more than a song: it is a sung prayer, a window open to the peace and faith of our ancestors. In his voice, we find the emotion of childhood, the joy of reuniting with loved ones, and the light that transforms the holiday into a true mystery. This year's recital program features a selection of carols with an archaic flavor, as well as beloved songs that have become a staple in Romanian homes around Christmas. With each note, the artist manages to create that unique atmosphere in which time seems to stand still and hearts open to kindness and communion. Stefan Hrusca's warm and powerful voice remains the bridge that connects generations and places, carrying on the tradition of Christmas carols as a gift and a blessing. Suffice it to mention a few traditional venues: Brucknerhaus Linz (Linz Philharmonic), Bregenz Festspielhaus (Bregenz Philharmonic), Brunnenhof der Residenz Muenchen (Imperial Palace in Munich), Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Stadthalle Vienna, Meistersingershalle Nuernberg, Kasemattenbuehne Graz, etc. The orchestra's recognition is also due to its collaborations with big names in world opera, soloists, and conductors from the Arena di Verona, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Vienna State Opera, etc. The members of the Orchestra di Teatro D'Opera Italiana are joined by instrumentalists from the Vox Opera Orchestra, known and appreciated nationally and internationally. Bogdan Costache's presence in the program of this year's Viennese Regale is owed to you, the audience, who already love him so much and have been impressed by his performance, wanting to see him again as soon as possible. Thus, the performance will be interactive, conducted "with violin in hand" following the model of Johann Strauss or, more recently, Andre Rieu.This year, Bogdan will surprise you with many pieces in their national premiere. An artistic dialogue between Sergiu Tuhutiu and Flavia Giurgiu On Monday, October 13, 2025, at 7:30 p.m., in the Pictura Hall, we invite you to Chopin Exposed, an innovative performance that combines Frédéric Chopin's music with contemporary texts inspired by it, in a captivating artistic dialogue between pianist Sergiu Tuhutiu and actress Flavia Giurgiu. The performance, presented at the Pictura Hall of the National Theater in Bucharest, explores how the great composer transformed his perception of fragility into piano music, translating the intimacy of emotions into a universal language that still inspires us today, 215 years after his birth. The script combines letters written by the composer during his time in London with original texts written by Flavia Giurgiu and Sergiu Tuhutiu, inspired by Chopin's music. The contrast between classical piano compositions and modern sound design, built from ambient textures and synthesizer sounds, creates a fascinating temporal arc. The perspective of the artists Sergiu Tuhutiu: "I have long wanted to create a performance that combines Chopin's music with a contemporary touch. Flavia's lyrics bring precisely this note: they are current—some full of fantasy, others painfully anchored in everyday experience. Beyond the score of the performance, for me this show is about our play with time. This creates small suspended moments that relate to a certain match between a word or a line and a musical motif, a phrase ending, or a harmonic delay. And for those inexplicable moments of magic, it seems worth all the effort." Flavia Giurgiu: "For years, I have been using texts I have written myself in the performances and shows I work on, texts that I do not present as my own, because I never have enough time, because I could always have done better. About a time when music was not considered art, but a profession. About a time when I think I have the most beautiful job, because I do what I want to do. About the artists Sergiu Tuhutiu – pianist, creator, and artistic director Sergiu Tuhutiu is a pianist and artistic director with a career spanning over fifteen years on international stages. A graduate of the Royal College of Music in London, the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart, the Abbey Road Institute in London, and holder of a doctorate in musical performance from the Gheorghe Dima Academy in Cluj-Napoca, he combines interpretative excellence with the vision of a producer and cultural innovator. He was awarded the Grand Prize at the Debut to Master Competition in St. Petersburg, has given recitals and interdisciplinary projects in Europe and the United States, and has created shows with original concepts, such as Chopin Meets Broadway, presented in Hollywood, London, and New York, with the participation of artists Peisha and Katharine McPhee. In addition to his concert activity, Tuhutiu has extensive experience as a producer and manager of cultural projects, collaborating with renowned studios such as Abbey Road Studios in London and coordinating large-scale artistic initiatives – from orchestral recordings with dozens of musicians to innovative multimedia projects. With Chopin Exposed, Sergiu Tuhutiu offers a new foray into the romantic universe, this time filtered through a contemporary vision that brings Chopin's music closer to the sensibilities of today's audience. Flavia Giurgiu – actress, dancer, and choreographer Flavia Giurgiu is a theater, dance, and performance artist based in Bucharest, with a steady presence on stages across Romania and Europe. A graduate of the Faculty of Theater and Television in Cluj-Napoca and the Octavian Stroia High School of Choreography and Dramatic Arts, her career includes collaborations with prestigious directors and choreographers such as Radu Afrim, Gigi Caciuleanu, Andrei Serban, Oskaras Koršunovas, and Mihai Maniutiu. As an actress, she has performed in important productions at the National Theater in Bucharest, the National Theater in Timisoara, the Bulandra Theater, the Comedy Theater, and in numerous independent productions. and as a dancer and choreographer, she has created stage movements for performances staged in leading institutions, including the Romanian National Opera in Cluj, the National Theatre in Craiova, the Youth Theatre in Piatra Neamt, and Apollo111 in Bucharest. Her work also includes original performances presented in museums and international festivals, such as the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest, Kaaitheater in Brussels, and contemporary dance festivals in France and Italy. Flavia has also starred in feature films and short films, including "The Youth of a Dictator," where she played the role of Elena Ceausescu. The artist constantly explores the boundaries between theater, dance, and performance, bringing authentic energy and an intense stage presence to her projects.
