Caramitru-Mălăele, Spinning the Yarn
The two legends of the Romanian theatre will be on a tour again, performing the play Spinning the Yarn, a seductive duel of poetry, fables, morals, short stories and memories. Always surprising, always different and exceptional, Spinning the Yarn is an improvisation performance... ̒̒ ̒ because improvisation represents actually the supreme state of the actor, as Horațiu Mălăele states. Every time it is performed, the play is different, the humor is livelier, and the proficiency becomes more and more obvious. The memory of old times is brought up in the scene by Caramitru, who recites thrillingly and, with intelligence and talent, imagines answers suitable for Horațiu Mălăele, volcanic, irresistible and with a sparkling humor, the two of them being witnessed by Shakespeare, Eminescu or Topârceanu.
The dialogue is completed by the gentle and colored musical replicas of cellist Adrian Naidin. With his extraordinary voice and perfect technique, Adrian Naidin has always impressed the music lovers. Sometimes, he performs as if he were a whole orchestra, and other times he paints or whispers lines of poetry. Adrian Naidin has inspired the Greek director Mihalis Kakogiannis, while the Latvian musician Mischa Maisky , also called the Paganini of the cello, considers him one of his most talented apprentices.
Despite his background and education which are rather oriented towards classical music, the cellist Adrian Naidin has also experimented with other languages, from abstract contemporary jazz, up to world music or pop music. In ethno-jazz he has succeeded from his first attempt, in the great performance Damian ʼs Fire, directed by Damian Drăghici, in 2011, in Bucharest. He composes scene music, and collaborates with Alekton theatre of Athens.
Graduate of Gheorghe Dima Music Academy of Cluj-Napoca, licentiate in cello and chamber music, Adrian Naidin has improved his abilities by studying with the musician Mischa Maisky. He made his debut in 1988 at the Hungarian Opera in Cluj Napoca, and, since 2011, he is a member of the National Radio Orchestra of Bucharest.
During their career of many years, Ion Caramitru and Horațiu Mălăele did not have the opportunity to chance replicas, neither in film, nor in theatre, although the public was waiting for a dialogue between the two of them who, apart from experience and talent, share the love for theatre and poetry. The multi-awaited moment has arrived in autumn 2011, when the two powers have united for the first time on the same stage.
Very well received by the public from all over the country, the play is a sell-out every time it is performed, both in Romania and in the tours for the Romanians abroad.
