"The performance tries to activate what I feel is one of the cardinal virtues of theatre: to propose characters who, by what they think, say and do on stage, by the way they do it, allow us to think differently about our lives. We started from a family, a questioning of the place that violence occupies in a democratic society, when society is threatened by anti-democratic thinking and actions, when it is faced with the imminence of dictatorship, and we wanted to expose these issues in a way that challenges ourselves. Not to reassure us, not to serve merely to confirm our shared values - and which are probably not shared values, but we are often surprised by election results. And then we realize that we only share them on a human, personal scale. But on the social scale, as citizens, we are often separated in our interpretation and manipulation of ideas and in the shape of our civic engagement." (Tiago Rodrigues)
