Show presented by Mihai Eminescu Theatre of Kishinev

Not recommended for young people under 16.

The plot takes place in Elsinore Castle, but not in the throne room, but in the royal kitchen where the masterchef Froggy, from ladle, knives and glasses, is cleaning up the tragedy of the Danish prince haunted by chimerae; and even, for more effect, out of jealousy and wounded love, he dons the armour of old Hamlet. In the kitchen the suckling pigs sizzle, the wild boar is cooked in oak wood, Pericles' pigeon pudding is simmered, Tutankhamun's marinated cow's tongue is perked. The kitchen becomes a battleground - it is true, it is only the steak that's bloody... the rest is spice.

Spectators who will come to see the performance "Hamlet in Spicy Sauce" by Aldo Nicolaj of the "Mihai Eminescu" National Theatre of Kishinev, performed within the 8th edition of the Romanian Theatre in Bucharest, Iasi and Kishinev programme, on 16th January 2022, at the NTB Studio Hall, are invited to attend, before the performance, a book presentation that will take place in the foyer of the Studio Hall: it is the book entitled Under Angel Wings signed by Mihai Brădescu, dedicated by the author "to the memory of my grandparents and parents, to all the victims of Stalinist deportations from Bessarabia to icy Siberia". A disturbing book in which the author's parents' and grandparents' testimonies, together with the documents kept in the files of the deported families, provide real historical sources intended to complete the overall picture of the ordeal that Bessarabia went through during the years of Soviet occupation. A soulful book intended for reading by all those who wish to understand the complexity of the history of our compatriots in Bessarabia and their struggle to preserve their ethnic Romanian identity and national values.

The presentation will take place in the presence of the author, who will offer autographs at his book stand.

As the show is scheduled to start at 7.00 p.m., spectators who wish to attend this book launch are invited to come at 6.30 p.m.
