Independent show hosted by the National Theatre of Bucharest. The organiser is exclusively liable for the quality and content of this event!
Krechinsky's Wedding is an event performance, meticulously crafted by the well-known actor Mihai Bendeac, who has joined the ranks of the most captivating theatre directors. In this show, every line and every gag is carefully measured to offer the audience the delight of an exceptional comic performance.
"I created this performance based on the same benchmarks I had towards theatre at the age of 15. Plus, of course, a bit of experience and maturity. I'm not a director. I'm a storyteller. A storyteller who tries to use his imagination. Imagination is the best and most beautiful thing we have. I chose a text that talks about madness in many forms because madness is a concept that, unfortunately or fortunately, I think I have mastered. Enjoy watching and I hope you forget about everything else while you're in the room." Mihai Bendeac

"We need laughter. Laughter in all its forms - smarter, snarkier, more subtle, more outright snarky. Laughter is the most effective asset of modern man, the stressed, sickened, depressed, depersonalized, robotized, almost lobotomized, turned into a little machine that consumes and consumes itself day after day. This fantastically effective valve, this mask that hides you in broad daylight, our elusion, our refuge, the cure for some, this handy delight, the surrogate of happiness - laughter is much needed.
"Krechinsky's Wedding" at the Comedy Theatre, long after A.V. Suhovo-Kobilin, as it is assumed, directed by Mihai Bendeac is one of the most sincere theatre shows - it is exactly what it claims to be and delivers to the audience exactly what it promises when they buy a ticket: a buffoonish comedy in which the gags cascade and the audience can quietly enjoy almost three hours of rich and, why not, therapeutic laughter; little by little you forget to look left and right to check if it's appropriate to laugh loudly, you stop judging and analyzing whether or not it's appropriate to laugh at something so unsophisticated, you let yourself go and the laughter becomes infectious. You simply walk out of the room with an unbroken smile, full of good energy, cheerful even. And that happens quite rarely. It has become quite hard to be cheerful anymore.
The story of the duplicitous, gamblerish, slippery Krecinsky, who marries out of self-interest, could be a trite, laughable tale from a century ago that at best you can laugh at like an old play.
The controlled slippages, the overstatements and exaggerations, the whole froth-like world is very well reasoned in all its aspects.
Then the music that triumphantly accompanies curtain rises, entrances and exits from the stage and underlines with two thick lines some lines or situations, enhancing the ridiculousness and increasing the comic effect - the recognizable chords behind the brass and flourishes and intricacies are all the more satisfying to intuit from Carla's dreams tunes.
"Krechinsky's Wedding" is a performance where professionalism is obvious. A successful comedy that can really please the audience, in which the stable balance does not allow any slip on the slope of the easy or the bad taste jokes. And the laughter, finally the laughter, is unanimous." (Yorick)
