La Shica – flamenco
La Shica: Supercop will take place at the National Theatre's Great Hall, Sunday, 4th March, at 20:00. With: Elsa Rovayo "La Shica" - vocals and dance; Jose Luis Ordoñez - Spanish guitar; Guillem Aguilar - bass and Pablo Martín Jones - percussion.
La Shica - a charismatic and powerful artist who floods the stage with her remarkable apparition and talent. Her original and heterodox propositions derive not only from ‘copla' and ‘flamenco', but also from rock, funk, rap... All these styles, combines with the flamenco dance, are present in the manner in that she performs on the stage and have as a result an innovative and unusual show.
In their desire to find a unique sound, the La Shica band develops an atypical language, when it comes to the scenic performances, starting from flamenco, relaxing the traditional metric and making place to the street with the help of hip-hop. Not only their sound is different, but also their aesthetic, taking into consideration that another element used by the artist is the flamenco dance.
The band - another particularity of the project - represents an acoustic quartet influenced by rock, funk, jazz and couplet. Records: Trabajitos de chinos (2008) - nominated at the Spanish Music Awards in 2009 for the best newcomer and Supercop (2010) with that they actually won in 2011 at the Spanish Music Awards the awards for best show and best author.
A show organized within the 3rd Edition of the Classic Flamenco and the New Genres Festival organized by the Cervantes Instituto and the Embassy of Spain in Romania (3 - 26 March 2012).
