Based on the screenplay of Stefan Arsenijević's film of the same title.

"Love and Other Crimes" is the story of one day, the big day of a woman lost among gangsters and the slums of a Balkan neighborhood.

Anica is the mistress of a declining mobster from a marginal area of Belgrade, and one day she decides to run away and start a new life. In one day, one day only, from morning till night, the woman in her 30s tries to implement her secret escape plan, a plan that gets complicated in a Balkan style and becomes a story of Love and Other Crimes. A bitter, bizarre, leering and melancholic tale.

The world is full of fugitives. If we were to identify just one character on whom two arts, theatre and film, have made a career, his name is The Fugitive. Theatre and film are full of fugitives, because people have been wanting to run-run-run-run for as long as anyone can remember! And they run from misery, poverty, their minds, their misfortunes and their illnesses, they run from ghosts, from loneliness. They run after a chimera. They run from fear. And Anica wants to run away from a world in which even she doesn't know how trapped she is. A world to which Anica is linked through Milutin - the mob lover, through his daughter Ivana - the extremely vulnerable and addicted to her suicidal tendencies, through Stanislav - the sentimental and loving gangster who opens the way to an impossible love, through his mother - a senile singer whose son secretly finances her passion for music.
