The Apuseni Mountains alpenhorn ensemble reunites with electronic music producer Milan Warmoeskerken on the TNB Amfiteatatrum stage for a first-ever concert in Romania. The evening will be completed by the electro-acoustic Al Ehtifal Project. An event presented by the Melodiy and The Attic platforms.
The composition in a modern electro-acoustic key for the alpenhorn was created by Belgian artist Milan W for the Europalia Festival - Romania 2019, deconstructing and recomposing, in real time, the sound of the alpenhorn, with the help of the synthesizer. In the Apuseni Mountains, there is a community of women and girls who play the alpenhorn, an archaic wooden aerophonic instrument, up to three meters long and handmade from spruce. Historically, the alpenhorn began as an instrument of communication, being used to call the army to battle, to call the troops to the battle, to signal shepherds, etc. Its musical value has been apparent since the 19th century, and it is one of the few wind instruments for which there are almost no compositions.
