Modern Solo Piano 4
Following the recitals of Nik Bärtsch, Vassilis Tsabropoulos and Bugge Wesseltoft from the event series Modern Solo Piano, JAZZ.RO proposes another important name of modern pianistic: Leszek Możdżer.
Możdżer will present Sunday, 4th March 2012, at 20:00, within Modern Solo Piano 4, his last album ‘Komeda’, edited at the prestigious German record label ACT MUSIC.
Leszek Możdżer is an excellent pianist, composer and producer, being considered one of the biggest revelations in Polish jazz in the last decade. The album ‘Komeda’ is a tribute to the most famous exponent of Polish jazz and film music from the 20th century, the incomparable Krzysztof Komeda. Passed away at only 38 years, Komeda managed to compose all the soundtracks to Roman Polański’s movies – among which we mention ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ (1968) or ‘Knife in the water’ (1962) – in that the suspense and the terror are amplified by the tension from the music composed by Komeda.
The album ‘Komeda’ was distinguished last year with a double platinum record in Poland, for 20.000 sold units. Even if Komeda is seen as a mentor for many Polish musicians, remarkable at this project is that it belongs to the most important successor of the tradition and the recognition of Polish jazz, Możdżer!
‘Komeda is one of my idols’, affirms Możdżer. ‘I still remember the moment when I first heard his music, it was incredible, the wisdom and the profundity he was transmitting… […] The listeners will feel that the Możdżer - Komeda project has passed through a long period of maturation. The producer of the album, Paweł Potoroczyn, tried to convince me for 6 months to enter a studio. Only now he succeeded, because before I was just not feeling prepared.’
In the opening of Leszek Możdżer’s recital, Iulian Ochescu – one of the most promising young pianist from Romania – will hold a minirecital.
An event realized in collaboration with the Polish Cultural Institute and NTB (within the program NTB – Paratheatral – music), with the help of Andante Music and Green Hours 22 Jazz Café.
The tickets can be bought on www.eventim.ro, in the Germanos, Orange, Vodafone, Domo shops, and in the Humanitas and Cărtureşti libraries. The price of a ticket is 60 lei. If you buy it up to the 20th February, you will have a reduced price of 50 lei.
