Because on the autumn evenings, the sky is the bluest, we wish to share with you the joy of enacting the show „Nameless Star" by Mihail Sebastian, under the directorial wand of Alexandru Cozub.

In a pale provincial town, Professor Miroiu shares his life between books and stars. Waiting for an editorial rarity coming by train, his earthly trajectory collides one evening with the one of Mona, young heartbreaker, without ticket, but with a great desire for exploring. Between them, a love story unfolds which, like a cosmic explosion, shakes the universe of the small town to the very foundations.

Mihail Sebastian, (pseudonym of Iosif Hechter), was born on 18 October 1907 in Brăila. He studied law and philosophy in Bucharest. From 1927, he launched the collaboration with the Cuvântul newspaper, and from 1932 with the magazines Romania literara and Azi. He was a member of the Bucharest-founded Criterion Association, where he had Mircea Eliade, Emil Cioran, Eugen Ionescu and Constantin Noica as colleagues.

He made his debut in literature with the volume "Fragments from a Found Notebook". He published the novels: "For Two Thousand Years" (1934), "The Acacia Tree City" (1935), "The Accident" (1940).

From 1935 to 1944, he kept a personal diary, published posthumously in 1996.

As a playwright, he published his first play "Holiday Games" in 1939. He was forbidden to practice journalism and his license of barrister was withdrawn, according to the Romanian anti-Semitic legislation at the beginning of the fourties.

Under the pseudonym Victor Mincu, he published the play "Nameless Star”, premiering on 1st March 1944 at the Alhambra Theatre of Bucharest.

The press of the time thus described the event: “The author, Mihail Sebastian, is hiding under a different name. The "Secret Service" agents are in the Alhambra hall, which is packed to bursting. It was not a success, it was a triumph!”.

The writer’s dramatic work further comprises "Breaking News" and "The Island", the latter remaining unfinished, the third act being completed by his friend Mircea Ștefănescu.

Mihail Sebastian died in the prime of his life on 29th May 1945 in Bucharest, following a road accident.
