Oana Berbec

Born in Bucharest, Oana Berbec graduated from the National University of Music in Bucharest, where she studied with Prof. Silvia Voinea. She attended master classes held by Ileana Cotrubaș (Bucharest National Opera) and Marina Krilovici (Kefalonia Music Festival, Greece), as well as those held by soprano Donna Woodward (Musica Viva Musikferien, Germany) and maestro Larisa Gergieva.

In 2004 she won the third prize at the European Music Competition "Antonino Miserendino" in Palermo, Italy.

Her debut at the Bucharest National Opera came in 2014 with the opera "Hansel and Gretel" by E. Humperdinck.

She has toured extensively both in the country and abroad in cities such as Berlin, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Rome, Sofia and others.

Very passionate about the performing arts, she has also tackled other musical and dramatic genres such as musicals (Metropolis Theatre, Bucharest), theatre (Commedia dell'arte in the Court of Comedians) and pantomime (Passe-partout Dan Puric Company, Lipscani Theatre). She is also no stranger to the world of dance and film, taking part in ballet and tap classes and starring in three short films, "Doctor Who - How to Stop a Timelord", "Inspector Plustard and the Fallen Groom" and "Some are Silent".

In addition to her vocal studies, her practice with the old-time and traditional music group Truverii has brought her closer to the study of various percussion instruments as well as the cither.

She tackles a wide repertoire of musical genres and styles, from early and Renaissance music to opera, musicals and contemporary music.

The great opportunity to collaborate with Maestro Gigi Căciuleanu came in 2017, at the Bucharest National Opera in the framework of Maestro Căciuleanu's creation - "TragiComedy" to the music of Rodion Șcedrin, a performance that opened a new perspective in the complex art of artistic expression.
