Open Doors at NTB
In Decembre 2013, we are celebrating 40 years since the "I.L. Caragiale" National Theatre has its current location in the University Square. This building was inaugurated in Decembre 1973 and it is located at the centre of the capital city. An extensive process of restoration has begun in 2011, in order to repair the deteriorated spaces, to organize the entire area and to build the original facade from 1973. Today, at the end of the year 2013 the transformation is spectacular.
The "I.L. Caragiale" National Theatre wants to make from this "Bridge across the years" a holiday, so, on the 14th of Decembre 2013 there will be organized a series of free entrance events.
On Saturday, the 14th of Decembre 2013, from 10:00 o'clock A.M. till 4:00 o'clock P.M.,there will be organized free guided tours around the theatre, of the new studios and restored spaces. On the same day, there will be held meetings with actors of NTB, sessions for autographs and photos by the theatre book stands, where there will also be some book launches.Marin Moraru, Mircea Albulescu, Ion Caramitru, Adela Mărculescu, George Motoi, Dan Puric, Liviu Lucaci, Dan Tudor had already confirmed their presence at the public meeting. We will inform you in advance, about the schedule of these meetings at the book stand. There will also be other surprises.
Moments from the history of these 40 years of theatre, recalling the great plays and the actors from the golden generation, will be shown on a screen at the Media Hall, during the entire day.
At 11:00 o'clock A.M, the play Little Hell will be performed at the Painting Hall. The entrance is free but only by reservation. There are just 226 seats available (a person can make reservation for maximum 2 seats). NTB and TEATRU .PRO invites you at the end of the play "Little Hell", to go up on the stage, in the setting of the show, to sit for a photo with the actors from the play. The photos will be uploaded on the www.teatru.pro site, at "Events"box, in a special application, from where you'll be able to download the ones that you want, of course at a certain price. The payment is done online, with your card. SpectActor is an original project initiated by TEATRU .PRO in partnership with NTB and which will be launched at the "Open Day at NTB".
From 11:00 o'clock P.M till... the first subway, the show will take place at the Studio Hall, "a white night of theatre" in premiere! The remarkable moments will be offered to you by Ion Caramitru, Monica Davidescu, Ilinca Goia, Medeea Marinescu, Marius Manole, Marius Bodochi, Eugen Cristea, Dorin Andone, Tania Popa, Vitalie Bichir, Rodica Ionescu şi Maria Buză, switching from jazz to music played by fiddlers, from folk to musical, puppets improvisations, poetry and theatre. Other guests: Lucian Maxim, Petre Ancuța și Emilian Mârnea, as well as the actors from the Gala Hop 2013 in the show Hai iu iu NU Hey you you(a concert of remixes from Maria Tănase, a UNITER production), staged by RaduAfrim and music by Vlaicu Golcea.
The mulled wine and the hot pretzels will heat the atmosphere, announcing that Christmas is coming!
The well-known caricaturist, Mihai Stănescu created a caricature representing this event, inspired by the Shakespearian line "To be or Not to Be" (from the Romanian name Teatrul Național București or TNB)
