RAMANENJANA is a performative docu-fiction created by Simona Deaconescu (RO) in collaboration with Gaby Saranouffi (MG/SA). The performance, which premiered in Germany, Romania and Madagascar this year, is the result of a consistent research on "dance epidemics" and benefited from the mentorship of the renowned French choreographer Mathilde Monnier within the European platform Forecast. RAMANENJANA - an international co-production in which three languages are spoken and conflicting testimonies about dance, disease and revolution are performatively commented on - explores and critically debates multiple versions of the same historical event, questioning the role of dance in society.
The performance is presented at the CNDB 2022 Awards Gala, organised by the National Dance Centre Bucharest. The CNDB Awards Gala is an annual event to acknowledge those who have contributed, supported and confirmed the value of contemporary dance art in society. Beyond any hierarchies, the CNDB Awards celebrate dance, creativity and the role of art for people and in the community.
RAMANENJANA is a performative docu-fiction by Simona Deaconescu in collaboration with Gaby Saranouffi and performed by Haja Saranouffi, Simona Dabija, Maria Luiza Dimulescu under the direction of Mathilde Monnier.
