The Nouveau Criminals Come to Brasov!
The National Theatre of Bucharest has the honour to open this year the 8th edition of the Romanian Comedy Week Festival of Brasov, on the evening of August 2nd, 2021, with the show The Nouveau Criminals by Edna Mazia, directed by Ion Caramitru.
The play belongs to one of the most famous contemporary Israeli writers and the success of this comedy has spread from one end of Israel to the other, over 450 performances. The staging of the Bucharest National Team is a similar success, conquering city after city.
The humour and wisdom of an honest family today will convince you that it is worth facing fate even if you becomeits toy, even if the whole world has gone crazy and even if "everything is but a great brothel"!
After the premiere in Bucharest, the show participated with great success in the Reunion of Romanian National Theaters in Kishinev, and in the online programme "Marathon of Israeli Dramaturgy on Romanian Stages", launched by the State Theatreof Constanta.
In the main roles you will meet the actors: Virginia Mirea, Alexandrina Halic, Andrei Finţi, Silviu Biriş, Teodora Mareş, Afrodita Androne, Ileana Olteanu, Aylin Cadîr, Cosmina Olariu, Daniel Badale, Alexandru Hasnaş, Răzvan Oprea, Mihai Verbiţchi.
Critics appreciated both the actors' performance and the staging of a topical text, full of humour, strength and rhythm: “The actors shine. In the role of Dorina (the matron), Virginia Mirea performs a tour de force”, writes Dinu Grigorescu, in the Radio Theatre Magazine. "A show with nerves, with rhythm, which benefits from the refined choreography of Florin Fieroiu, with a plot capable of maintaining the interest of those in the hall", states Dana Pocea, in The Morning Star. "A true artistic delight", he remarks and Doina Meiseleş, in the Israeli Journal of the Week, Gabriela Hurezean confessed on the website "Muses and Arms": "The first thing I liked frantically about "The NouveauCriminals" was the lighting (light design: Chris Jaeger). "Ion Caramitru, who directs the show, proves to be a refined observer of human character, but also a balanced theatrical creator," said Tudor Sicomaș, in the Radio Theatre Magazine.
On Monday, August 2nd, 2021, the show will be performed on the stage of the "Sică Alexandrescu" Theatre, from 7 pm.
