Tudor Gheorghe Enters NTB with „Profession of Love”
„Life is a replicable love story!”
Six years after the passing away of Adrian Păunescu, Tudor Gheorghe makes a Profession of Love, on the verses of the great poet. „For me, contemporary poetry ends with Adrian Păunescu, because he is the «youngest» of the panoply of poets I grew up with, spiritually speaking... I have stood by my poets, by Nichita Stănescu, Romulus Vulpescu, Leonid Dimov, Gheorghe Pituţ, Mircea Micu... Nights in a row we talked and drank together and this is why I could easily tackle the inner melody of their poetry”, confesses „the universal southerner”.
Adrian Păunescu had an extraordinary reverence towards the art of Tudor Gheorghe. Păunescu appreciated the national values, helped them have a name. ”He came to my shows, when he first heard the Anti-Spring sung by me, he could not refrain from crying. He was shedding tears over the aesthetic beauty”, states Tudor Gheorghe.
The show Profession of Love is entirely built on verses from lesser-known love poems by Adrian Păunescu. „It is time to turn to the oeuvre of this great Romanian poet. I am curious to see the impact of this show. It is a generation who grew up, through the Flacăra literary circle, with Păunescu’s poetry, but less with his love poems… Hats off to all those who grabbed a guitar and sung his poetry! But they stopped, unfortunately. They did not pursue their way; they were left with the 25 songs they chant in different tonalities. They ceased to be creative...“, declares the „universal southerner”.
Profession of Love is a unique show, devised in the „laboratories” of minstrel Tudor Gheorghe, who is warning us that „life is a replicable love story! Any war starts and ends with a love story”!
On 14 November 2016, in the Grand Hall of the National Theatre of Bucharest, as of 7.00 p.m., the minstrel shall revive, through song, the verses of the poet Adrian Păunescu.
Out of respect for the artist and the spectators, the access into the show hall is no longer allowed after 7.10 p.m. After the commencement of the show, seats lose their validity. Access of children under 7 is not allowed. Children over 7 pay an entrance fee. Thank you for your understanding!
