The project White Accordion Nights International Festival, at its 10th edition in the Romanian musical life, pertaining to the field of "Performing Arts" - cultural diversity of the programme, proposes the organisation of an anniversary concert, given by world-class instrumentalists in accordion music, with inserts from Romanian folklore, international folklore, classical or contemporary jazz. The "White Accordion Nights" international festival, at the tenth edition, is a project by artist Emy Dragoi, whose musical career debuted and was perfected under the sign of the accordion. Moreover, he ensures not only the organisation and the artistic direction of the festival, but evolves within each edition in extensive recitals, both as a performer and as a composer.
The main purpose of the festival - which has aroused the interest of the audience, artists and field critics throughout all the nine editions so far - is to promote the accordion and the attempt - which has turned into a success every time - to argue in front of the general public that this instrument is one of the most complex, which can performmanifold musical genres, ranging from traditional music, fiddler music, classical music and even jazz.
Presentation of the 10th edition
In line with tradition, the next edition of the festival will take place in November, at the Bucharest National Theatre.
This time, the festival programme will have jazz music as a central theme, along with Emy Dragoi - considered the best jazz accordionist of the moment, both in terms of interpretation, re-orchestration of famous songs, belonging to other musical genres, but also composition - to be accompanied by renowned artists from France, Italy, Russia, Belgium, Argentina, Romania, etc.
There will also be an interesting exhibition of accordions, many of the exhibits being part of artist Emy Dragoi’sprivate collection.
Emy Dragoi and his guests are the precursors to the accordion's emancipation towards the freedoms offered by this musical genre. The accordion festival will present to the public a varied program, which includes both classical music, vaudeville, cafe concert, as well as jazz, tango or even fiddler music.
The anniversary concert will take place at the National Theatre of Bucharest, on November 12th, 2019, at 8 pm.
The "White Accordion Nights" international festival in Romania joins hundreds of other established international events of the genre, such as Festival des "Nuits de nacre", Festival d'accordéon Le Grand Soufflet.
