The project White Accordion Nights International Festival - 11th edition, in Romanian musical life, registered in the field of "Performing Arts", proposes the organization of a concert, performed by world-class instrumentalists in accordion music, with inserts from Romanian folklore, international folklore, classical or contemporary jazz. The "White Accordion Nights" International Festival, now at its 11th edition, is a project of the artist Emy Drăgoi, whose musical career began and was accomplished under the sign of the accordion. In fact, he ensures not only the organization and artistic direction of the festival, but performs in each edition in extensive recitals, both as a performer and composer.
The main aim of the festival - which has aroused the interest of the public, artists and critics throughout all ten editions so far - is to promote the accordion and to attempt - always successfully - to argue in front of the general audience that this instrument is one of the most complex, on which one can perform the most diverse musical genres, from traditional music, fiddle music, to the classical and even jazz genre.
Presentation of the 11th Edition
In line with the tradition, the next edition of the festival will take place on October 16th, 2020, at the I.L. Caragiale National Theatreof Bucharest.
This time, the festival's program will focus on classical, tango and jazz music, along with Emy Drăgoi - considered the best jazz accordionist of the moment, both in terms of performance,- reorchestration of famous songs, pertaining to other musical genres, but also of composition - whereas famous artists are bound to perform: Domi Emorin - France, Romeo Aichino - Italy, Roman Jbanov - Russia, William Sabatier - Argentina, Ion Drăgoi - Romania, etc..
An interesting accordion exhibition will also be held, many of the exhibits being part of the private collection of the artist Emy Drăgoi.
Emy Dragoi and his guests are the forerunners of the accordion's emancipation towards the freedoms offered by this musical genre. The accordion festival will present to the public a manifold programme, which includes classical music, variété, cafe concert, as well as jazz, tango, etc.
The White Accordion Nights International Festival in Romania joins hundreds of other international events of traditional genre, such as Festival des Nuits de nacre, Festival d'accordéon Le Grand Soufflet.
