Radu Afrim ends "The Caragiale Year" at NTB, with the representation Scourge. The innovative director's first meeting with the classic author will be inciting, intriguing, irritating, but it will certainly not go unnoticed.

The only drama written by I. L. Caragiale, the history of female revenge, Scourge in Afrim's vision triggers emotion and suspense, in a highly sensorial, instinctive and expressive show. The actors create an effervescent world, which is accompanied by a strange thrill given by the music. A setting which evokes the urban routine, but which is loaded with telluric details, extended to a surreal parade by the costumes, which complete the haunting atmosphere of the show.

"I have rarely attempted at texts from our patrimony, but when I did, I felt the need to leave traces. A tame reading for Scourge would be useless (...) I walked with Lorca, I got to a first name basis with Chekhov...Do you think that Caragiale will refuse me?" Radu Afrim
