On February 16, 2026, the National Theater in Bucharest will host a special performance of the comedy "A Night to Remember," a highly successful classic British farce written by Derek Benfield, presented in a national premiere in a production full of rhythm, energy, and subtle humor.
"A Night to Remember" is a comedy of appearances, small human weaknesses, and social games taken to the extreme. Beneath the laughter and exaggerated situations, the play speaks of human weaknesses in a world that is constantly spiraling out of control.
The action takes place in a seemingly quiet country hotel, which quickly becomes the scene of impossible situations and delightful complications. Ferris, the improvised receptionist of the guesthouse, agrees to fill in for his sister during her vacation, without suspecting that he will be caught in the middle of a veritable carousel of lies, false identities, and hidden relationships. With an almost unbelievable sense of timing, he tries to avoid meeting four guests whose secrets threaten to come to light.
A farce in which nothing is what it seems, and comical situations follow one another at a brisk pace, supported by extremely dynamic dialogue and highly precise acting.
The direction and set design are by Daniel Bucur, who manages to create a classic, elegant, and extremely effective comic atmosphere.
A fast-paced performance with sharp lines and energy that doesn't let up until the curtain falls, guaranteeing the audience an evening of theater full of good cheer and hearty laughter.
The cast brings together charismatic actors who bring memorable characters to life.
