In the empty space exhibition
20 June 2023In the empty spaceis a video intervention exhibition in the context of an empty stage, resulting from the media workshop: New Media Practices in the Context of the Performing Arts held from June 14, 2023 to June 20, 2023, hosted by NTB. The exhibition coagulates a series of artistic practices and pursuits (painting, graphic design, video filming, digital animation, video projections) that merge into an empty scenic space, where the artists investigate the relationship between physical space and mental space, and how the thought that populates this empty space is materialized, contaminating the scenic space. The installations presented are the results of experiments carried out during the workshop, and aim to visually and conceptually augment a series of objects, which hide their own stories in empty space. The exhibition can be visited on Tuesday, 20 June 2023, from 16.00 - 20.00, at the Atelier Hall. Translated by Andreea Codrea-Boeriu
You say Tomato! 9G premiere at NTB
08 April 2023On Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 8:00 pm, at the Sala Mică Hall of the National Theatre, there will be a new 9G premiere at NTB: You say Tomato by Joan Yago. A text staged for the first time in Romania, two charismatic actors (Irina Ștefan and Denis Hanganu), a young director focused on the sincerity of the story (Florin Liță) and a set designer who knows how to highlight the simplicity of the stage (Daniel Vizitiu), this is how one could describe the new production of the 9G Program at NTB. Florin Lita's choice of Joan Yago's You say Tomato is an invitation to the natural resources of the spectacular, to the charm of a story articulated through the emotion and truth of the actors' interpretation. A couple of young performers are preparing a show of "romantic duets" in a provincial town, and in the rehearsals for the show, the two begin to question their lives and their love relationship. Apparently, the triggering event for this tension is a trivial accident. However, hitherto unspoken truths and unacknowledged doubts in the couple begin to surface: "you don't love me", "there's nothing between us anymore", "from the beginning I realized the relationship wasn't going to work". Under the pressure of the audience coming to the "romantic duets" show, they both end up focusing on what they don't have, on financial shortcomings and artistic unfulfillment. A bittersweet and musically romantic comedy about the feeling of failure. About professional failure, couple crisis, the need to lie and taking refuge in unfulfilled dreams. First performances: April 8 and 22, 2023, 8pm, Sala Mică Hall at NTB! Translated by Andreea Codrea-Boeriu
