Caramitru-Mălăele, spinning a yarn (1)

25 February 2013

A ceremonious evening at the National Theatre: Ion Caramitru and Horaţiu Mălăele open the new season of Meetings at the NTB (with the participation of the cellist Adrian Naidin). The same but still different every time, the actors Ion Caramitru and Horaţiu Mălăele continue their dialogues on the Great Stage of the National Theatre from Bucharest,  in an extraordinary edition of the show  "Caramitru-Mălăele, spinning a yarn". This show will reopen the new season of meetings with theatre lovers from the capital city. Seductive, with irresistible humour and the profundity that made them legends, the two dialogue partners look for each other, seek to understand and test one another, in a show applauded by critics and the public alike. It was last season's revelation, a sell-out performance every time. "An intense show, powerful, but also with a lot of humour, a meeting between our hearts and the other thousands of hearts, pounding of longing and retrieval, of ardour and fire, all on a cooper string, like the autumn that will come", says the cellist Adrian Naidin. He is the artist who collects their tears and smiles and moments of grace, which he filters through his own soul, and then turns into music.                                                        It will be a ceremonious evening designed by three artists who have the profundity and the grace to make any encounter a memorable one, and turn a free discussion into a theatre lesson and, why not, a life lesson. Last year ended triumphantly, with cheers and hundreds of theatre lovers climbing on the National Theater's Great Stage to enrich their Christmas gifts with autographs or Adrian Naidin's new album or the two great actors' editorial publications, the recently published book "A story with Horaţiu ", signed by the theatre critic and historian Doina Papp, or the reprinted biographical volume " With Ion Caramitru, from Hamlet to Hamlet and beyond", written by Mircea Morariu. The new year comes with its own story, its own pace and a few other surprises, lovingly conceived for those who will be with us from the beginning.                                            Monday, February 25, 2013, at 20:00 Ticket price: Category 1: 100 lei Category 2: 80 lei Category 3: 60 lei Category 4: 30 lei Tickets can be purchased at the NTB's Ticket Agency and on www.bilete.ro  Translated by: Izabella Feher

Viennese Banquet – an extraordinary Christmas concert!

24 December 2012

Celebrating 10 years of Romanian tradition, the show Viennese Banquet, which Superartistic offers us as a gift every December, will delight audiences this year with a unique experience in Romania: Viennese Banquet. The end of 2012 will certainly be extraordinary for those who appreciate such events, because this time Vienna inspires us with one of the biggest international traditions through the orchestra Eastern Royal Orchestra from St. Petersburg. The orchestra is conducted by Daniel Zakharov and the concert maestro Natalia Negruzzi from Moscow, who will go on a tour passing through the major European cities at the end of this year. The exceptional and well known accordionist Eugene Nagruzza is also a member of the orchestra. He received the copyrights from none other than Richard Galiano (the number 1 accordionist in the world). We will listen to Strauss this year as well and we will leave ourselves be carried away by the Blue Danube waves, as the orchestra will be accompanied by the famous soprano Marina Raddis - the principal soloist of the National Opera from Chişinău. We are not talking about simple classical ballet, but about true works of art, generated by contemporary dance, the famous Viennese waltzes, meant to bring important value to the works from previous centuries. The Viennese rhythms of the Strauss dynasty come to caress our subtle features with a concert entitled Viennese Banquet.                                                  The Great Hall, Monday December 24, 2012, at 19.00   From the program: Overture "Die Fledermaus" Kaiserwalzer, Voices of Spring, Les Chemins de L'amour, Il bacio, William Tell, Four Seasons, Orpheus in the Underworld, Dance Macabre, Hungarian Dance No. 6, "Tales of the Vienna Woods Waltz", "Wiener Blut Waltz", "Annen Polka", "Musetta's Waltz", "Waltz from Eugene Onegin", "Think of Me (The Phantom of the Opera)'', "Seven by the Beatles," "Eine Kleine Nacht Musik," " Omio Bambino Caro", "Radetzky March" Ticket prices: Category 1: 200 lei Category 2: 170 lei Category 3: 150 lei Category 4: 80 lei   Translated by: Izabella Feher

Caramitru – Mălăele, spinning a yarn...for Christmas

22 December 2012

The National Theatre from Bucharest lights the most beautiful Christmas stars: Ion Caramitru and Horaţiu Mălăele - winter stories on Adrian Naidin's extraordinary music Around Christmas, Ion Caramitru and Horaţiu Mălăele will continue their dialogues on the Great Stage of the National Theatre from Bucharest, so that they can tell winter stories to the ones who were close to them in one year. We await you with good thoughts and a decorated Christmas tree, with verses whispered by two talented actors and old Romanian carols, played by the extraordinary cellist Adrian Naidin. Verses and songs bring joy to an elegant evening with a representation performed during the entire year in a fully booked hall, in the applause of theatre lovers from Bucharest and the country. Tears and bursts of laughter, emotions of every kind in an improvisation show...because improvisation is, actually, an actor's state of grace, as Horaţiu Mălăele said. Volcanic and inspired by personalities who enlighten souls, from Sorescu to Nichita, Mălăele challenges Ion Caramitru with verses, and Caramitru recites stirred up, evoking Shakespeare, Eminescu or Sorescu only to bring closer the sweet joy of the winter holidays. On a cello that reaches notes of a rare beauty and perfection, Adrian Naidin gathers the tears and the laughs of others, which he transforms into chant, sang with his absolutely incredible voice: an exceptional ambitus, a timbre specific to the type of Romanian ballads that touch your soul, a gradation and a control which are heard only at the great opera singers. Caramitru - Mălăele, spinning a yarn collects a few rounds of laughter, in an acrobat-dialogue sliding to profound themes and moments of poetry, to theatre and the personal experiences of the two discussion partners. Seductive, with irresistible humour and depth that made them legends, Ion Caramitru and Horaţiu Mălăele face each other once more at the National Theatre, accompanied by Adrian Naidin's extraordinary cello.   Saturday, 22nd December 2012, at 17.00 and 20:00 The Great Hall, NTB Ticket price: Category 1: 100 lei Category 2: 80 lei Category 3: 60 lei Category 4: 30 lei      The tickets can be purchased at the NTB's Ticket Agency and on www.bilete.ro Translated by: Izabella Feher

Johann Strauss Ensemble and Russel McGregor - Vienna Magic

19 December 2012

The Viennese from the Johann Strauss Ensemble come back to Romania for the 8th year in a row. Applauded in Paris, London or New York, the famous Viennese orchestra Johann Strauss Ensemble returns to our country for the 8th year in a row for a tour which will cross Romania from West to East. As a premiere a Romanian soloist, the excellent cellist Adrian Naidin, will play by their side. From Strauss and Lehar, to Beethoven, Haydn, Mozart or Schubert, the journey - in waltz, polka or mazurka steps - will be guided by the extraordinary Russel McGregor, conductor of the Schönbrunn Palace orchestra from Vienna. He is a virtuoso violinist and a real showman. By being inventive he manages to insert in his shows a part of the old tradition, established by Vienna's great "star" himself, the composer Johann Strauss. The Austrian orchestra is one of the few orchestras in the world that were invited by the descendants of the famous composer Johann Strauss to play in the family chapel. The famous Viennese orchestra Johann Strauss Ensemble returns for the 8th year with a show that will fill your hearts with joy, its name being predestined for the winter holidays - "Vienna Magic". Seduced by tradition and the Romanian composers, the Johann Strauss Ensemble prepares for us a few musical surprises together with this year's special guest, the cellist Adrian Naidin. He was Moby's collaborator for the soundtrack of the movie The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman, a very dear project to the American Shia LaBeouf. Adrian Nadin is a complex musician, experimental in jazz, inspired in classic music, forceful and gracious in folklore. The success of the world music project "Songs in a circle", made in collaboration with the pianist Raul Kusak, has recommended him for collaborations with personalities from the international music and cinematographic industry. A revelation in the last year for both the public and the critics, Adrian Naidin also steps on the stage of the National Theatre from Bucharest, in the show "Caramitru - Mălăele, spinning a yarn", to brilliantly moderate the duel of verses interpreted by the Romanian theatre's two forces. Wednesday, 19th December 2012, at 17.00 and 20:30 The Great Hall, the National Theatre from Bucharest Ticket prices: VIP Category: 200 lei Category 1: 150 lei Category 2: 90 lei Category 3: 60 lei Category 4: 20 lei         The tickets can be purchased at the NTB's Ticket Agency and online on http://www.bilete.ro/ Translated by: Izabella Feher

The vocal ensemble prepares an explosive concert, but, in the same time, one that is melancholic and tempered. It is a journey through the American gospel and the wonderful African choral traditions, from the origins of black music to modern gospel. "The Magic Gospel Pearls" will awake in everyone from the audience the warm winter holiday atmosphere with the help of the musical stories of a forgotten land. Caramitru – Mălăele, Spinning a Yarn – extraordinary edition!

28 June 2012

Ion Caramitru and Horaţiu Mălăele postpone their holiday for another meeting on the stage of the National Theatre from Bucharest. The show Caramitru-Mălăele, spinning a yarn will be performed one more time, in an extraordinary edition, Monday, 28th June, at 20.00, on the Great Stage of the National Theatre from Bucharest. Although the representation from 28th May should have been the last one from this season, at the request of the spectators who did not get to buy tickets for the final edition, the two actors postponed their holiday for one more representation at the end of the season. The clash will be forceful, people will burst out in laughs in volcanic reprises of amusement, and the laughter will become emotion in the moments with a profoundly sensitive charge. In the grand finale any bolt from the blue is allowed. From Shakespeare to Topârceanu, from Nichita, Marin Sorescu, Ion Caramitru responds with intelligence and subtlety to a volcanic partner, irresistible in comic roles, impressive in dramatic ones - Horațiu Mălăele. The seducers, with an irresistible humour and the profundity which made them legends, will confront each other in verses, a duel which will be moderated by the incredible music of the cellist Adrian Naidin. Adrian Naidin has always seduced his audience with a combination of musical styles, on a cello which reaches notes of a rare beauty and perfection.   Translated by: Izabella Feher MTTLC, Bucharest University
