"The Servant of Two Masters" by Carlo Goldoni
15 April 2024Private event hosted by the National Theatre in Bucharest. The responsibility for the quality and content of this event lies solely with the organizer! The Vienna Children's Theatre brings to the stage the famous play "The Servant of Two Masters" by Carlo Goldoni. In a captivating performance that concludes a series of performances this season, on April 15, 2024, at 7:00 pm, the talented children of our theatre company offer to the audience an adapted interpretation of this timeless classic of universal comedy. "The Servant of Two Masters", Goldoni's signature comedy, is a charming blend of intrigue and amusing disguises, setting a highly dynamic playing field for a character-filled tableau of incomparable humor. Pantalone, a Venetian merchant, must suddenly change his plans: his long-dreamed-of son-in-law, the wealthy Federigo Rasponi, appears to have been stabbed. So Pantalone quickly betroths his daughter Clarice to Silvio, the son of an honorable lawyer. The wedding that should have taken place immediately is postponed by Truffaldino, a servant, who brings news that his master, Federigo, is paying an unannounced visit. Clarice and Silvio are panic-stricken, but Pantalone is happy in his heart that his future son-in-law is still alive. However, the reality is different: Federigo is Beatrice's brother, and she disguises herself as her brother in order to find her lover, Florindo. With the help of the innkeeper Brighella, the only one who detects the disguise, Beatrice sets her plan in motion, unaware that she too will soon become the victim of a deception. Meanwhile, Florindo, the man Beatrice is looking for, is wanted by the authorities for his alleged involvement in Federigo's attack. Arriving in Venice, he is looking not only for Beatrice, but also for a servant. Here he meets Truffaldino. Poor Truffaldino, underpaid by Beatrice and always hungry, is now also employed by Florindo, because more money means more food. For reasons of convenience, Truffaldino houses Florindo in the same inn as Beatrice. In this way, he thinks he can perform his duties as "servant of two masters" comfortably and without much effort - which soon proves to be a mistake, as Truffaldino's life increasingly turns into a grueling and comical balancing act between his two "masters". Viewers are in for a series of highly comical twists, turns and tricks. So, we invite you to the show to discover together the outcome of the comic situations! "For me, the Vienna Children's Theatre means art. I'm in my second year of theatre and I've really enjoyed how I discovered the art of theatre and music, along with many techniques that I still use today. Art in theatre is not just about how characters appear on stage and how they present themselves. Art for me is about expressing my feelings in front of an audience, coming to rehearsals before performances and most of all, feeling the energy of my colleagues and the audience." says Maria, a 9th grader. Three Italian Tenors - In Women's Month
18 March 2024Private event hosted by the National Theatre in Bucharest. The responsibility for the quality and content of this event lies solely with the organizer! What could be more appropriate in the most beautiful month of the year, when the snowdrops are in full bloom and nature is beginning to come alive, than a musical journey to "Bella Italia" to the rhythms of Neapolitan cantatas and the most famous arias from Italian operas, but also with thoughts of the shores of the seas that bathe the "homeland of music", the Adriatic on one side and the Mediterranean, Tyrrhenian and Ligurian on the other! And all this happens in the month when we celebrate the Woman - mother, wife, lover! And who could be more appropriate to take us through this musical story of Women's Day than the three Italian tenors who grew up listening to and singing these famous songs and arias as children? Who would feel them, experience them and sing them better than them? That's why we thought that famous arias like "Nessun dorma", "La donna e mobile" or cantatas like: "Mamma", "O sole mio", "Santa Lucia", "Funiculi, Funicula" or "Caruso", just to mention a few of the ones you will hear, will make you step optimistically into the coming spring! The performance 3 Italian Tenors is a tribute to the great tenors José Carreras, Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti, three legendary artists who conquered the whole world with their voices and performances, and the exceptional voices of the three guest tenors, Federico Veltri, Fabio Serani and Angelo Forte, voices in the purest style of Italian belcanto, will remind the audience of the beautiful voices of those who founded this concept. The other guests who will complete our event will be no less! The Opera in Rome, the Scala Theatre in Milan, the Regio Theatre in Parma or the Mozarteum in Salzburg are the opera theatres from where the other special guests, famous baritones and sopranos, will come to try to stand up to the 3 Italian tenors! The performance will be an interactive one, the musical direction being provided, following the model of Johann Strauss or, more recently, André Rieu, "with violin in hand", by the young conductor and violin soloist Bogdan Costache, a name already known in all philharmonics and opera houses in Europe. He will conduct the famous Orchestra di Teatro D'Opera Italiana and the Vox Opera Orchestra, making it easy for you to meet famous instrumentalists from Europe and the world once again! Audiences will be humming the famous choruses of the cantatas with our beautiful chorus girls and keeping the beat with our dancers, so everyone will be thrilled and experiencing art at its best! Are you still looking for a gift for your loved one or the person who gave you life? An invitation to such a show could be the perfect gift! Won't you be coming to the great opera houses of Italy in the near future to hear the beautiful voices of famous Italian tenors in the purest style of Italian belcanto? You have the chance to do it in your city! They will come to us! In the Women's Month! Translated by Andreea Codrea-Boeriu

Sergiu Cioiu – Reciting Nichita. The 11 elegies
13 December 2023Performance in partnership with the National Theatre in Bucharest. On December 13, 2023, at 7 pm, we invite you to the Atelier Hall of NTB for an exceptional recital of music and poetry, in which the 11 eleven elegies of the great poet Nichita Stanescu, masterpieces of Romanian poetry, are highlighted on stage by the unmistakable personality of the artist Sergiu Cioiu. A performance that will delight Nichita's lovers and also the young people who now have the chance to meet him. The music of the performance is played live by violinist and musician Sabin Penea, in harmony with Nichita's spirit and Sergiu Cioiu's inspiration. Nichita invites us to rediscover ourselves through his 11 elegies: "The poet's poetry stirs the intimate poetry of each of us. A poet is all the greater when those who read him discover not him, but themselves". (Self-Portrait, 1982) About the great artist Sergiu Cioiu, Nichita Stanescu said that "he becomes himself a spectacle. The joy of his interpretation opens our eyelids with a rising star." ("La o adică", 1982) "Sergiu Cioiu established himself in the 60s and 70s of the last century in the elite of Romanian promoters of quality pop music with a predominantly poetic substrate. Soloist employed between 1964 and 1967 at the Constantin Tănase Revival Theatre in Bucharest; present in August 1965 on the stage of the famous Olympia Theatre in Paris, selected by none other than Bruno Coquatrix and compared to Yves Montand; then, embracing an activity of "freelancer", revealed on prestigious podiums in Romania, France, USSR, Poland, Belgium, Holland, Israel; between 1972 and 1975, he became an actor at the Ion Dacian Operetta Theatre in Bucharest; then, between 1975 and 1982, he became an acting teacher. These are the main milestones of a career that consecrated Sergiu Cioiu as an outstanding artist-intellectual and gave him a great reputation." (Florian Lungu, critic and radio journalist) Violinist Sabin Penea, born in Tulcea, graduated from the National University of Music, then studied in Graz, Austria, with violinist Silvia Marcovici, and in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, under the guidance of violinist Sebastian Hamann, where he also obtained his second master's degree in music. A Winter's Tale – Alifantis & FragileBand concert
06 December 2023Event hosted by the National Theatre from Bucharest. The responsibility for the quality and content of this event lies solely with the organizer! In my childhood days, all stories began with once upon a time... And because what's next will be a story, I'll tell you: Once upon a time, a long time ago, a young man just stepping into life. And he kept walking until the road brought him to the great city of Bucharest where he discovered and discovered himself. And what came out was what came out. Since then, fifty winters have fallen upon my head, since I first stepped onto the stage. Now when I realize how much time has passed I don't know whether to be cheerful or sullen, proud or modest, enthusiastic or melancholic. I have no nostalgia and no regrets. I feel fulfilled and that's all. I think with joy that out of fifty winters, the last ten have been spent with these wonderful people who are with me today in this particularly beautiful winter tale. Beautiful and fragile like an old porcelain. Thank you, Razvan, Mihai, Lyuben, Adrian. I am grateful for all that you have given me and allowed me to undertake with you. Why A Winter's Tale? Because this winter I bring you this gift, FragileBand. Something that will seem to come from a whole other dimension. From where beautiful stories are born. With true kindness, with the magic dust of selflessness, with the magical scent of the tree, with the beauty of children's eyes watching him adorned. And, of course, with sadness for those fragile souls who don't have all this. 50 years or 10 years is not a lot, but it's not a little. Thank God for all these years, thank God for smiling on me and allowing me to do what I liked and thank you for being there for me. In concert halls, on stage and in my heart. Fragile, as an artistic construction, was conceived as a multicultural project, a gentle, sweet show. We put together living, acoustic instruments, vibrating with emotion, like the lively fibers from which they were born, with poetry that delicately or vigorously erupts in feelings, love stories, feelings, fears, encounters, separations, like our existence. What came out of this convoluted alchemy? A music in various rhythms and languages, a journey from fado to rock, on whispers of Romanian, Spanish, Portuguese, Greek, Aromanian poetry, a symbolic elixir of life, which I hope you will enjoy! So let's step into the world of stories, the magic of the stage, into a corner of my soul, Santa Niculae Alifantis. Translated by Andreea Codrea-Boeriu
