No magic pill
An initiative that promotes diversity and accessibility in the performing arts, paving the way for a more inclusive theater. Inspired by a true story, the performance brings to the stage the moving story of people with motor disabilities who are fighting to maintain their dignity and independence.
"No Magic Pill" is the first project in Romania that proposes staging a play written for people with motor disabilities and performed by them, alongside professional actors. I wouldn't have wanted us to be the first, but I'm glad we had the courage to take this step. And I hope that, at least a little, we will change the way we see those we too often choose to ignore," Laurențiu Rusescu, director.
"I never imagined that this play would be staged outside Ireland. It's everything I dreamed of for this play: to cross the borders of the country for which it was written and become a voice in the fight for the rights of people with disabilities everywhere.
I was impressed to discover in Romania the same desire we had when we staged the play in 2022 in Ireland, namely to bring visibility to people with motor disabilities and to help their inclusion. We presented everything in a way that showed the humanity, humor, and richness of the lives of people with disabilities." Christian O'Reilly, playwright
