A Page From the Theatre's History Written at NTB
Sunday, 15th December, 2013, at the I.L. Caragiale National Theatre was written a page of history!
After the 337th representation of the play The Navel, Radu Beligan was applauded and standing acclaimed by hundreds of people present in the Studio Hall for the celebration of the maestro's 95th birthday, toasting a glass of champagne!
"We are participating at this unmatched phenomenon in the whole world. We are contemporary with the greatest actor that the Romanian theatre school ever gave and one of the most important actor of the world, today he turns 95 years and one day!", said Ion Caramitru, the general director of the National Theatre of Bucharest.
A moment of the memorable evening that all have been waiting for was, of course, the awarding, by Cătălin Măruță, of the Guiness World Records Certificate for The Oldest Active Professional Theatre Actor! After three months of efforts, the ProTV team successfully completed the steps required to open a new category in the Guiness World Records specially for the maestro Radu Beligan!
The moving confession held on stage by the great actor, at the end, will stay in everyone's memory: "... I don't think there exists a person who loves this country more then I do...".
Everyone present in the hall received a copy of the limited edition of the anniversary programme book, originally signed by the maestro Radu Beligan.
A huge bouquet of 95 roses, along with an emotional Christmas carol and the traditional Happy Birthday (performed by a vocal octet from the Philharmonic) gave an extra emotion to this unique evening.
