Lucy Kirkwood's "The Welkin" boasts a unique cast of no less than 14 NTB actresses flanked by three actors in a story "about justice and life-and-death decisions, about laws and seedlings to be weeded, about rights and children to be given teeth, about divinity and healing ointments." The National's top actresses are Tania Popa, Magda Catone, Ana Ciontea, Ilinca Goia, Medeea Marinescu, Mirela Oprisor, Lamia Beligan, Erika Baiesu, Carmen Ungureanu, Raluca Petra, Rodica Ionescu, Brandusa Mircea and the younger Aylin Cadir / Alexandra Salceanu.
