Carnival for Children!
The Carnival, the most appreciated and awaited type of entertainment throughout this entire season of events at the Teatrul Naţional pentru Copii ( The National Theatre for Children), the thrilling homework, that engages the whole family in the excitement of preparations, can be seen at Sala Media at TNB.
The children can enjoy festal occasions two Sundays in a row. According to the tradition of this theatre, each performance is a premiere, therefore a carnival show is different from the other ones.
Sunday, the 23 of February, starting at 11 o`clock, the children are welcome to The Carnival before the Great Lent and the following Sunday, on the 2nd of March, starting also at 11 o`clock, you are welcome to The Spring Carnival.
Romanian tales will be told again for you, the youngest of the theatrical public. Having the carnivalesque music as a background, the good is once more up against the evil in difficult situations and tricky traps. The everlasting fairytale characters, the lovely old customs, as well as the extremely original costumes will delight the eyes of whoever joins this colourful spring festal occasion.
To be a child is a very important thing, the hosts of the event support this affirmation by asking you to be prepared at your best, from the mask and costume up to the tale that contains the character you have chosen. At the theatre you will learn more about the characteristics of the carnival. Celebrating the beginning of the Great Lent, with a joyful group of people that turns the world upside-down ( kings become buffoons and beggars become kings), is considered to be a very solemn rite, that has been passed down from the earliest generations and performed with a burst of jollity.
We look forward to seeing you at the theatre, dressed up and good-to-go for the Carnival!
