My Ladies Rock – JTI Mettings 2022
30 June 2022The 22nd edition of the JTI Meetings The Jean-Claude Galotta dance company presents My Ladies Rock - “an explosive, sensual and poetic show”. The Jean-Claude Galotta dance company is coming to Romania for the first time, at the 22nd edition of the JTI Meetings. My Ladies Rock, choreographed by Jean-Claude Galotta will be presented for the first time to the Romanian public in Bucharest, on June 30, 2022, at 8 pm, at the National Theater from Bucharest, Ion Caramitru Hall. The son of Italian emigrants, Jean-Claude Galotta discovers dance at the age of 22, after graduating from Beaux-Arts in Grenoble. At the end of the '70s, he met Merce Cunningham in New York and got access to the world of postmodern dance. When he returned to Grenoble, he co-founded Groupe Émile Dubois with Mathilde Altaraz, which became in 1984 one of the first national choreography centers in France. He invents a playful and vibrant dance, with a rich construction, allowing the performers to show their talent through improvisation and virtuosity through the quality of the performance. Jean-Claude Gallotta has created over 80 choreographies, presented to the dance-loving audiences on all continents. He also performed some of his works at major national ballets in France, such as the Opéra de Paris, Opéra de Lyon and Opéra de Bordeaux. Over the years, he has enriched his repertoire by combining dance with literature, music or film. The Jean-Claude Gallotta Company is a partner of Maison de la Culture Grenoble and has also started a partnership with the Théâtre du Rond Point in Paris. “For My Ladies Rock, I chose the songs I used to listen to when I was a teenager (...)”, says the choreographer in an interview with Quest-France. “When I write, I feel like I'm doing author work. As a tribute to Merce Cunningham, I work quietly: I have the songs in mind, but first of all I imagine the choreography, the drama of the dance. Then I see if the music matches the movement. (...). I'm not against music, but I want to keep a certain sense of freedom from music”, explains Jean-Claude Galotta, according to the same source. “One won't get bored not even for a second”, Web Theater writes about “My Ladies Rock”, and for Le Figaro Magazine, the show is “unique and enchanting”. Publik' Art writes about an “explosive, sensual and poetic” dance, and Sud Ouest about “an event show that must be discovered”. The dancers are “obviously happy to move to this music, releasing a vitality that is in perfect harmony with the performers of the songs. They put the stage to the edge of the sword. (...) A generous show that demonstrates how intelligence and fun can go hand in hand.” (Ballet 2000). Join us for the 22nd edition of the JTI Meetings! By ArtProduction Translated by Andreea Codrea-Boeriu

I'm back
27 March 2022The Conference is organized by the SPECTACULIS Business Agency and will take place in the TNB Studio Hall. Dan Puric offers you a show-conference about theater and life The well-known actor, director and essayist Dan Puric marks the World Theater Day by offering the public a special performance of the latest show-conference, entitled I'm Back, which will take place on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the Studio Hall of the National Theater in Bucharest, starting from 11.00 am. I'm Back is a conference but also a one man show for all those who want to remember the great values of the Romanian theater, to give their mind and heart a great joy with humorous moments and to share emotional feelings teared apart from the current reality of each of us. "What good is a poet in times of drought? To remind us that there is rain. And even today we could ask ourselves, in these sad times that we live and who live through us: «What good is the Theater? To remind us that there is Life!», I could answer unequivocally. For the Theater has always seemed to be our better life. The place where we escape from our daily worries, where we regenerate and feel joy and which, above all, offers us the wonderful opportunity to meditate on the vulnerability of the human condition. For this «something better» than the times we are currently living, I invite you to meet us in the privileged space of the most ephemeral art, which, paradoxically, tells us about the perpetuation of the mystery and the joy of being human!" Dan Puric March 27th has a special significance, as it is the World Theatre Day. Established in 1961 by the International Theater Institute (ITI), this day has become an annual event since 1962, organized by the ITI centers and the international theater community. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased online on Ticketnet.ro, Iabilet.ro, Mystage.ro and at the box office of the Bucharest National Theater. Translated by Andreea Codrea-Boeriu

The Emy Drăgoi & Jazz Hot Club Romania concert-showWhat happens when the music from the "City of Lights" meets the music from "Little Paris"? The result is a show full of energy, color and passion, a show that brings together and then transmits to its audience the melodic sonority of the accordion, the scented music from the famous Parisian neighborhoods and the authentic Romanian folk harmonies reinterpreted.Grande Orchestra & Emy Drăgoi have laid the foundations of a musical collaboration full of fantasy and originality, which will carry the spectator from the streets of Paris, from the bridges on the Seine, and the small bistros in Montparnasse to the Mogoșoaia bridge in Bucharest, the famous Royal Palace, and the famous passage Lipscani. Everything in a festive atmosphere, in the style of the 20's and 30's, in the rhythms of some musical genres - swing and manouche - with a special charm, which have made and are still making history. An event show, which brings to the audience exhaustive artists: Emy Drăgoi, Maia Morgenstern, Toni Grecu, Medeea Marinescu, Anca Sigartău, Aylin Cadîr.The manner in which the artists present themselves to the public may seem unique, but it is fully justified by their artistic background.Emy Drăgoi is an artist whose introduction would be redundant. He won countless competitions, performed on the most important stages of the world, reached the performance of being designated in France - the homeland of the accordion - as the "Accordionist of the Year".“I was born in Prahova, in a family of musicians from Valea Slănicului. My parents, uncles, and more distant relatives were all well-known, and used to be invited to weddings and other parties. My father was teaching accordion lessons, and I keep alive in my mind the image of my childhood summers when he used to sit for hours surrounded by his students under the walnut tree in our yard. Both my parents were musicians, both instrumentally and vocally, being highly appreciated for performing old fiddle songs. My whole childhood was about music, and so is my entire life. Among all the beautiful memories that I have, I will never forget the day when, at the age of 3 years, I received my first accordion as a gift. On the stage is where I feel best. Out of respect for the public, I am never satisfied with what I do and I always aim for more. I have always admired those who have managed to achieve high performances in one field or another, therefor also in music. Of course, I am referring to the best in the field, but not in order to copy their act, but to try my best to be better with every performance. You have our word that this will be a show never seen before in Romania, you can't miss that."The performance will be carried out under the artistic direction of the accordionist Emy Drăgoi, considered the best jazz accordionist of the moment and declared "Artist of the Year" in France, the country where he completed his musical studies. He will be accompanied on the stage by the Jazz Hot Club Romania - Ady Flautistu, Lucian Maxim, Alex Man, etc., an orchestra that brings together valuable instrumentalists.
