Exceptional Viennese Show - Extraordinary Christmas Concert

19 December 2022

Private event hosted by the National Theatre of Bucharest. The organiser is exclusively liable for the quality and content of this event! The Orchestra di Teatro D'Opera italiana, one of the most famous orchestras in Europe, has been applauded on major opera and philharmonic stages around the world. It is enough to mention a few traditional stages: Brucknerhaus Linz (Linz Philharmonic), Bregenz Festspielhaus (Bregenz Philharmonic), Brunnenhof der Residenz München (Munich Imperial Palace), Stadthalle Vienna, Meistersingershalle Nurnberg, Kasemattenbuehne Graz, etc. The orchestra's recognition is also due to its collaborations with great names of the world opera, soloists and conductors from the Arena in Verona, the Scala Theatre in Milan, the Opera Theatre in Rome, the Vienna Opera, etc. The members of the Orchestra di Teatro D'Opera Italiana are joined by the Vox Opera Orchestra, known and appreciated nationally and internationally. This is the first time in Romania that two orchestras join hands to offer the public memorable evenings and unique musical experiences. The two orchestras are joined by the Vox Opera Ballet Ensemble, with long-awaited moments of waltz, polkas, can-can, in an effervescent choreography conceived by Vlad Sebastian. The atmosphere and the Viennese spirit will win you over from the moment you enter the auditorium and will remain in your heart as a living memory for the Christmas and New Year to come. If you can't make it to the Vienna Christmas and New Year concerts, we bring the Viennese spirit to your city with the most beautiful Viennese musical masterpieces of the Strauss dynasty, Franz Lehar, Emerich Kalman and many, many other musical and choreographic surprises. The Smell of Christmas

14 December 2022

An evening of winter songs by TVA (Value Added Band) and special guests. The musicians, Teo Boar (guitarist, composer, member of Pacifica, Mircea Baniciu Band, The Blue Workers) originally from Arad and Vladi Cnejevici (keyboards, composer, member of Compact, Pasărea Colibri, Mircea Baniciu Band, The Blue Workers) originally from Timișoara, who were joined by Dorin Andone, actor of the National Theatre in Bucharest, composer, lyricist originally from Cluj Napoca and Adrian Vascu from the area of business consulting, composer and lyricist, originally from Targu Lăpuș, Maramureș county, founded in 2021 - TVA (Value Added Band). The synergy between these four musicians has led to a genre of music rooted in folk music with hints of rock, interspersed with recitations, a bouquet of songs and poetry with a message specific to the band members' life experience. Thus was born the album Winter Songs, which includes traditional carols, sung from house to house on Christmas Eve in the Maramures area. The show entitled The Smell of Christmas has as special guests the well-known Maramureș artists Grigore Leșe (originally from Târgu Lăpuș, Maramureș county) and Ducu Bertzi (originally from Sighetul Marmației) who are joined by the Emy Drăgoi and Jazz Hot Club orchestra, well known for the virtuosity and uniqueness of Emy Drăgoi, as well as for the professional musicians in its composition. We invite you to an evening of excitement, joy and surprises in the Ion Caramitru Hall of the National Theatre in Bucharest, on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, starting at 7.30 pm. This hall has a special meaning for us, as the late master Ion Caramitru is, and will always remain, part of our Value Added Story.   Translated by Andreea Codrea-Boeriu

RAMANENJANA is a performative docu-fiction created by Simona Deaconescu (RO) in collaboration with Gaby Saranouffi (MG/SA). The performance is presented at the CNDB 2022 Awards Gala, organised by the National Dance Centre Bucharest. The CNDB Awards Gala is an annual event to acknowledge those who have contributed, supported and confirmed the value of contemporary dance art in society. Don Juan at the 23rd edition of the JTI Meetings

12 October 2022

Private event hosted by the National Theatre of Bucharest. The organiser is exclusively liable for the quality and content of this event! JTI Meetings at their 23rd edition Aterballetto presents "Don Juan", the performance "awaited throughout Europe" Aterballetto / Fondazione Nazionale della Danza, the most important Italian dance company, comes to Romania for the first time, at the 23rd edition of the JTI Meetings. Don Juan, choreographed by Johan Inger, premiered in October 2020 in Ferrara (Italy), and this year it will be presented to the Romanian audience on October 11 and 12 at 8 pm, at the National Theatre Bucharest, Ion Caramitru Hall. "Don Juan" received the prestigious Danza&Danza magazine's award for the best production of the year. "An ancient yet contemporary myth, a choreographer at the height of his creativity, a company on an ambitious path of repositioning and growth, all bring to life one of the greatest shows of the year," the jury's motivation reads. "We have worked with renowned choreographers such as Naharin, Kylián and Shechter, but Don Juan is the creation expected throughout Europe," said Gigi Cristoforetti, coordinator and artistic director of Aterballetto, at the time of the premiere. Johan Inger, born in Stockholm in 1967, is one of the world's leading choreographers today. He made his debut as a dancer with the Nederlands Dans Theater in 1990 and as a choreographer in 1995. He enjoyed immediate success. In 2003 Johan left Nederlands Dans Theater to take up the role of artistic coordinator at Cullberg Ballet in Stockholm, where he has created numerous works. In 2005, Johan Inger came to Romania as a dancer and choreographer with the Cullberg Ballet Company, a guest of JTI Meetings. Of Mats Ek, artistic director of Cullberg Ballet at the time, Johan says he considers him "an artistic father". Mats Ek has also been a guest at JTI Meetings in 2016 with the Quartet Gala. Since 2008, Johan Inger has been a freelance choreographer and creates for companies all over the world, including the Swedish National Ballet, Compania Nacional de Danza, Aterballetto, Lyon Opera Ballet, Les Ballets de Monte Carlo and, of course, Nederlands Dans Theater. "I think and hope that it will not be a traditional interpretation, although it will be very faithful to the original story (...) I chose to explore the character of Don Juan because I am convinced that there is something contemporary about him and bringing him back into the spotlight could be an interesting experience. (...) Our Don Juan is not facing an eternity in hell because of his sins. We leave that to the viewer. Perhaps in the end, though too late, Don Juan realizes his transgressions and throws himself into the arms of destiny written by the vices and phantasms of the past? Or is he just a victim of something beyond himself? I don't want to give that away. But I can say that, in my version, Don Juan has more chances and opportunities to escape judgement and change (...)", Johan Inger explains his vision of the show. The Fondazione Nazionale della Danza carries out its production and touring activities under the name Aterballetto, the most important contemporary dance company in Italy. The company was founded in 1977 as Compagnia di Balletto dei Teatri dell'Emilia-Romagna and since 1979 has been known as Aterballetto. Thanks to the versatility of its soloists, Aterballetto has received numerous accolades in Italy and on the international stage. The JTI Meetings with Aterballetto / Fondazione Nazionale della Danza are organized as usual by the Art Production Foundation, with the artistic advice of Silvia Ghiață. Join us at the 23rd edition of the JTI Meetings! Translated by Andreea Codrea-Boeriu
