March 27th, 2019 - World Theatre Day at NTB
On Wednesday, March 27th, 2019, we invite you to celebrate the World Theatre Day ... in the theatre!
From 11:30 until the fall of the last curtain, the IL Caragiale National Theatre opens its doors to all those who are curious to discover what is happening in the spectacular building in the center of Bucharest.
Two screenings with free entry (within the 130 available seats) shall take place in the Media Room:
From 11.30, you can see again the play recorded on film The Navel by Jean Anouilh with Radu Beligan in the lead role - an actor whose career longevity on stage earned him acknowledgementby Guinness World Records. The show premiered in 2004, was performed for 10 uninterrupted seasons, with more than 350 performances at the headquarters, in domestic and international tours, all to a full house. Duration: 1h50.
From 2.00 p.m., with the live commentary of author Mihai Bodea, we invite you to watch an unusual documentary film, NTB's Revealed Chronicle (2008 - 2015). The conference-projection is based on an impressive archive of videos, photos, panoramas, architectural plans, interviews and features in the press, and not only the reconstruction of the National Theatre building, but also the stories of the people who worked here throughout the remodeling site of the building. Some of them shall also be present in the hall, witnesses to their own history!

From 3:00 p.m. we suggest that you make a documented guided tour with our colleague Ionut Corpaci, in order to discover the unseen part of the National Theatre and find out where and how the shows are born. And last but not least, to admire how the top of Bucharest is seen! Meeting point: in the foyer facing the entrance to the Media Hall.
On your way, you shall also go through the temporary exhibitions currently hosted by the theatre:
Studio Hall foyers - Francophone Lounge - exhibition of comic strips, caricatures and comic filmfragments signed by artists from Argentina, Wallonia-Brussels, the Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Lebanon, Romania, Hungary, Uruguay. The exhibition is organized by the Group of Embassies, Delegations and Francophone Institutions of Romania (GADIF).
Media Foyer (Intercontinental wing) - Commemorative Exhibition Stefan Bucataru - 50 Years of Painting.
The rotunda of the Small Hall foyer - Anniversary retrospective exhibition Stefan Pelmus 70, painting.
The Media Hall foyer (Tudor Arghezi wing) - Painting exhibition of Norica Vesca - Popescu, entitled The Circle.
From 6:00 p.m. we invite you to the Librarium, the bookstorefrom the Grand Hall lobby (behind the ticket booth), for the book Balance Exercise by Andreea Tanasescu, PhD univ. lecturer at UNATC, choreographer, cultural project manager, director of the “A & A Associated Artist” Cultural Association. The volume published by the Tritonic publishing house contains four plays and shall be released in the presence of the author.
On this celebration day of the Theatre, you get a 20% discount on the purchase of any book in the bookstore. In addition, if you participate in the raffle, you shall have the chance to win, by the end of the day, a set of drama books from the Yorick collection of Nemira Publishing House.
