The NTB Conferences

22 April 2013

Sunday, April 21, at 11.00, at the NTB's Small Hall, Mr. State Secretary Bogdan Aurescu will hold a conference on National interest and the actuality of sovereignty. Romania's foreign policy and the paradigm of the winner. Ticket price: 16 lei. Is the concept of national interest still current in a world which is profoundly globalized and acutely interdependent? What is national interest? Is the state sovereignty still necessary and, if so, how does it look like nowadays? What is national interest for Romania in terms of foreign policy? What are the means by which Romania's national interest, from the point of view of foreign policy, can be done better, more efficiently? Can we use the lessons learned so far from major foreign policy files that Romania has done well? Can we talk about - or build - a "paradigm of the winner" in Romania's foreign policy? The conference on National interest and the actuality of sovereignty. Romania's foreign policy and the paradigm of the winner will try to answer, with arguments, these questions. Bogdan Aurescu

The NTB Conferences

08 April 2013

Sunday, April 7, at 11.00, at the NTB's Small Hall, Prof. Dr. Florin Tudose will hold a conference on The 21st Century Psychiatry, between Psychoanalysis and Cybernetics. Ticket price: 16 lei. From its beginnings, psychoanalysis has helped psychiatrists, and not only them, to discover the evil in man and to avoid, by using psychotherapy, its turning into disease and chaos. But no other century since the creation of the World was shaken by larger social cataclysms, caused by the evil spirit and the power fantasies of men, than the 21st century. Therefore, it can be rightly said that everyone who lived in the 21st century can be considered a survivor. The twentieth century was also the century of the limitless technological explosion and the birth of information technologies that have opened up a new world - one that includes in a global network everyone on the planet, who can communicate without boundaries - the Worldwide Web, the famous www. Under the effect of this network, in just two decades, culture, economy, education, medicine, and pathology have changed dramatically, the individual virtualizing its identity until near dissolution. If Freud discovered that in each of us functions a world of fantasy in completion to reality, the Internet transformed the real world into a deeply virtualized world, haunted by collective fantasies which travel at the speed of thought, and psychiatry can only wonder, as the apostle Peter did two millennia ago, "Quo vadis?" Caramitru – Mălăele, Spinning a Yarn

02 April 2013

It is not a joke! Ion Caramitru, Horațiu Mălăele and Adrian Naidin will meet again on April 1, for the second time this year, on the National Theatre's stage for a show that you will remember forever. Seductive, with irresistible humour and the profundity that made them legends, the two dialogue partners look for each other, seek to understand and test one another, in a show applauded by critics and the public alike. It was last season's revelation, a sell-out performance every time. Between the two, Adrian Naidin, the musical moderator of this enchanting show, makes wonders with his cello and an exceptional voice. His voice is tailored from a traditional authentic lode, a timbre specific to Romanian ballads of the kind that take your breath away.

Don Juan, the deadly seducer, in Bucharest

26 March 2013

After the successful tour with The Exiles from 3 years ago, which made him famous in Romania too, the director Alexander Morfov returns to Bucharest with another theatrical event, the multi-awarded show Don Juan after Moliere, presented by the National Theatre "Ivan Vazov" from Sofia. Don Juan will be performed on the NTB's great stage, in a single performance, Sunday, April 7, 2013, at 19:00. One of the most important contemporary Bulgarian directors, the author of the impressive representation "The visit" from NTB, Alexander Morfov proposes his own version after a famous masterpiece from the world dramaturgy. Considered to be one of the most interesting, pure and philosophical interpretations of the myth of Don Juan, Moliere's play is set by the Bulgarian director in an exciting vision for those who expect to meet the eternal seducer again. More than the embodiment of the worshiped libertine, desired and envied, in Morfov's vision, Don Juan is a "deadly seducer", ominous, the embodiment of boundless freedom: "Freedom is like celebrity ... it depends on the society in which we live." The show will be supertitled in Romanian. Tickets are put on sale Saturday, March 16th at the NTB's Ticket Agency. Ticket prices: 50, 40, 30, 16 lei.  The show's official website, photo and video, here         Translated by: Izabella Feher
