Auditions for a New Generation of Andrei Şerban Travelling Academy
25 July 2011The 25th of May, 2011 - The Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) and ICR New York, in collaboration with the Ion Sava Researching and Theatrical Creation Center of the National Theatre of Bucharest and the Ipoteşti Memorial - Mihai Eminescu National Centre of Research, is inviting young actors to a new series of workshops organized as part of the Andrei Şerban Travelling Academy, which will take place at the Ipoteşti Memorial from the 10th - 16thth - 24th July. July and from the 18 In order to sign up, candidates should send an e-mail with their CV, a photograph and a letter of intent detailing their wish to take part in this workshop, to asta@icrny.org, no later than the 10th of June, also mentioning the workshop they are applying for. The auditions will be scheduled depending on availability. Ion Caramitru in USA and Canada
15 June 2011Ion Caramitru, the general Manager of the National Theatre of Bucharest performs an extraordinary recital of Eminescu in the Unites States and Canada at the invitation of the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York. The actor Ion Caramitru, undefeated at reciting Eminescu's lyrics and clarinet player Aurelian Popa will host, in an American-Canadian short tour, the amazing recital called Eminescu, dedicated to the genius of Romanian poetry. The tour, organised by the ICR New York together with Queens Library, NY, the Romanian Embassy in Washington DC, the Romanian Honorific General Council and the Philadelphian Church of the Holy Trinity, will consist of four representations of the Eminescu recital in Romanian, it will take place in New York (June 23rd and 24th ), Washington DC (June 25th), Philadelphia (June 26th), and also Montreal (June 30th) and Toronto (July 2nd). Public auction at the National Theatre of Bucharest

23 May 2011Sunday, May 22, 11:00 am, at The Black Box Hall of NTB, Prof. Gheorghe Carageani will hold the conference Aromanians: historical, linguistic, cultural and political landmarks.About the conferenceThe key issues related to Aromanians, the South Danubian branch of the Romanian people and the only survivor of Balkan Romanism, will be summarized in a historical,linguistic, cultural and political approach.The theme is timely as a result of the divergent views expressed recently about the status of the Aromanian language or dialect, whose speakers would ethnically form a distinct nation from the Romanians, and Aromanians would be a national minority in Romania. James Thiérrée, the Geraldine Chapline nephew, at NTB
02 May 2011The performing arts prodigy, James Thiérrée, brings at the end of April his latest creation, Raoul, who triumphed on world's famous scenes such as the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York or London Barbican. Inspired by the world of circus, the show combines the chamber music with illusion, dance, mime and theatre having as a setting a dream world whose ropes are in the hand of a single man, facing his own madness. The show will have three performances at the Great Hall of the National Theatre of Bucharest, on April 29th, 30th and May 1st starting at 8 pm. The fact that the show is present in Bucharest is a premiere for Central and Eastern Europe, this being the last stage of a successful world tour.

29 March 2011On Monday, March 28th, 7,30 p.m., in the Great Hall of the NTB, the show Barefoot in the Park will be staged, within the National Campaign Artists for Artists, organized by UNITER in collaboration with theatres all over the country, in order to raise funds for the elderly artists that face health issues. "It is not a secret for anyone that the salaries paid in theatres can barely assure subsistence and that none of the people who have dedicated their lives to the stage can make ends meet, even after 40 or 50 years of career. 14 March 2011Sunday, March 13th, 11 a.m., at "The Black Box", NTB, His Excellency Kanji Tsushima will hold a conference on the theme Japan seen by a Japanese Man Educated in Romania. His Excellency Kanji Tsushima, former Japanese Ambassador to Bucharest, has activated in the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 43 years, 23 of which were spent with the diplomatic mission in Romania. Kanji Tsushima, who speaks Romanian very well, will divulge to us the way in which a diplomat who has spent most of his life abroad perceives his own country.
