Spring Stories
The Magician, the Stories Fairy and their crew will get you closer to the floral, the spring and the Easter Holiday stories. Five weeks are left until the Palm Sunday and five performances until a new anniversary: on the Easter Sunday, the National Theatre for Children will be
celebrating 13 years from its first performance.
The Palm celebration (Florii, in Romanian) comes from Floralia, a Roman festival, which used
to be organized during spring, in the honour of Flora, goddess of the flowers and the spring, and who, according to the legend, had given to the people the seeds of all flowers. But the Palm celebration also existed in the pre-Christian period. The soul- to-soul relationship between the human beings and the nature is also expressed in the Romanian mythological stories about flowers and it is thought to possess sacral values.
At the National Theatre for Children, each performance is a premiere, and the little spectators are invited to join the actors and to take part in the story, by becoming the heroes of the fairy tales; a special programme is brought this spring: until now, in the season᾽ s stories, the heroes were especially performed by the boys; but this time, the spring stories overturn
the cast and, therefore, the main roles will be performed especially by the girls.
The Spring Programme will start with the Flowers Story performance and will end with the Easter Celebration Stories. Each Sunday, at 11:00, in the Media Hall of the National Theatre of Bucharest, the Colchicum ( Brândușa), the Viola, the Snowdrop and many other flowers will relate you their stories.
These performances are part of the educational project initiated in 2001 by the Abracadabra Foundation, which is run by the actor Marian Râlea in partnership with the National Theatre of Bucharest. Both children and parents will understand the moral of the stories and will respect the nature. Furthermore, an important objective of the event, and of the entire programme as well is to encourage the children ᾽s imagination.
We warmly wait you to the theatre!
Don᾽ t forget that the entrance at the Media Hall is on Batiștei Street, on the newly built platform, which links the Studio Hall to the Great Hall; next to it, at the Studio Hall, is the new ticket agency of the NTB; Ticket price: 20 lei. (Tickets cannot be purchased after the programme has started!). Running time: 1h 30.
