The show Scourge, directed by Radu Afrim, is broadcast during the weekend! Starting this week, the NTB-Online Conferences schedule is changing. The conferences will be broadcast daily, from Monday to Thursday, one title each, starting from 2.00 p.m. However, the NTB online conferences remain available for viewing on NTB's youtube channel even after the end of the live broadcast. As of April 24th, 2020, the Bucharest National Theatre has launched the programme NTB Online Shows. In order for the spectators to have more opportunities to watch the performances from the archive of the National Theatre of Bucharest, we will broadcast a title every week. The show of the week will be broadcast, however, in a live streaming system on each of the three days of the weekend: Friday, starting with 4.00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, at 6.00 p.m. NTB online shows can only be watched at the announced times, no longer being available online after the end of the live broadcast. The National Children's Theatre has not taken a vacation! In accordance with the measures arising from the application of Decree no. 195/2020 regarding the establishment of the state of emergency on the Romanian territory, all performances, public manifestations and other activities held within the premises of the I.L. Caragiale National Theatre of Bucharest are suspended for the entire period of the state of emergency.  In view of these legal provisions, the "I.L. Caragiale" National Theatre announces that it will change the usual structure of the season, which supposed its closure in July and August, following, this year, to the extent that the epidemiological context will allow, to schedule shows throughout the summer months - June, July and August. Performances from the theatre's current repertoire, including rescheduled ones, will be performed on the stage of all halls - the Grand Hall, the Studio Hall, the Painting Hall, the Black Box Hall, the Small Hall, the Media Hall - spaces equipped with air conditioning and climate control. We will also reopen the summer outdoor season, at the 300-seat Amphitheatre on the NTB roof, as part of the highly successful programme, Amphitheatre, summer nights, up, on the theatre (theatre, dance, music, film). The theatre’s actors and the technical stage body have been consulted in connection with this proposal, which also involves the reorganization of their private life, the rescheduling of family holidays, travel, and other commitments. The suspension of the NTB shows and other cultural activities with audience for a period of time that seems to extend beyond March 31st, 2020, has dramatic effects at financial level, risking the institution's collapse. Every day without performances, the theatre loses considerable amounts. These are intended for the functioning of the institution, for utility payments, for maintaining the building and, last but not least, for preparing and producing new shows, honouring copyright and paying external collaborators, mostly young actors. All shows canceled during the crisis period will be rescheduled, with tickets already purchased remaining valid. Spectators who can afford to have the patience to reconvene at a later date with their favourite actors and the NTB shows they want to watch, are asked not to request reimbursement of tickets purchased for performances postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.* Thus, it helps the theatre to carry out the activity of rehearsals and preparation of new premieres - behind the doors temporarily closed to the public. Upon the exit of this dramatic episode which the entire world is currently undergoing, we assure you that returning to the theatre halls will help us all recover our smile and heal more quickly from trauma! The "IL Caragiale" National Theatre of Bucharest announces the premiere of the performance Beginners, on March 3rd and 4th, 2020, at the Black Box Hall, directed by Bobi Pricop, on a text by Tim Crouch, one of the most unconventional contemporary English playwrights. Creator of theatrical performances employing multimedia technologies and exploring the borders of the dramatic art, Bobi Pricop is at the third encounter with the British author, after An Oak set at the Youth Theatre in Piatra-Neamț and The Author, staged at the "Marin Sorescu" Theatre in Craiova. Beginners - A show about the invisible border between childhood and adulthood, the children we used to be and the adults we will become. A show full of fantasy and mystery, of situations and many surprises, with adult and child actors, a staging that will put our senses to trial, playing at the same time with our minds. "Each text by Tim Crouch proposes a new, surprising experience. I think he is one of the most interesting contemporary playwrights because he constantly tests the boundaries of theatricality, the relationship between the audience and the stage, the roles we play in the world and the ways in which we are perceived by others. I am interested in how he experiments with new, sometimes risky, artistic forms to talk about certain fundamental, universal realities. In Beginners, this can be clearer than ever.
