Following the success of “Ghosts and Dandelions” (which earned him the Debut Award from the Writers’ Union, Bucharest branch), Gavril Patru now returns with a sequel to the events of his first play, continuing to serve in the triple role of writer, director, and actor. In “The Bride's Time and Her Gown” , the same characters from today’s village in Oltenia, alongside newly introduced ones, continue the story in a tone marked by the same blend of exuberant humor and drama that won over audiences in “Ghosts and Dandelions” and that shapes the world of a typical Oltenian family.

This time, the backdrop against which the cavalcade of tragicomic events unfolds is a wedding. Amid the cheerful preparations, with folk musicians, cauldrons of stuffed cabbage on the wedding table, and jugs of zaibăr, heavy dramas come to light and previously untold secrets are revealed. Nothing is what it seems; the masks fall one by one, especially when the silent ones begin to... “speak.”

We invite you to watch a performance as dynamic as a Serbian dance, yet as elegiac as a doina, preserving the same authenticity of the picturesque Oltenian dialect that established Gavril Patru as a successful playwright.

“The Bride's Time and Her Gown (The Wedding)” stands on its own as a complete production, though we highly recommend that you also watch the first part, “Ghosts and Dandelions”.
