With its overflowing humor and abundance of situations and allusions, the play is a landmark in any serious theater's comic repertoire. Chirita in the province is, as the author says, a "comedy with songs", an explosion of light, color, music, humor and good spirits.

Chirita in the province, the best known play of the series dedicated to this character of great importance in Romanian drama. The title of the play has a slightly ironic tone, illustrating the status of the main character, namely that of a province girl. The mention of this reality suggests the heroine's snobbery, dissatisfied with this situation, which she rejects with all her might. Chirita strives to impose city fashion, whether from Iasi or Paris, on the provinces.
