Urban Sky Swing by Bucharest Jazz

Jazzin' NTB is hosted by the Outdoor Amphitheatre where you are expected to rediscover this musical genre at altitude. Jazzin' NTB is not a mere musical event dedicated to jazz connoisseurs, but also an opportunity to bring to the hearts of an uninitiated audience the secrets and magic of jazz, creating a truly unique experience.

The programme debuts with the concert Urban Sky Swing by the Bucharest Jazz Orchestra, alongside Irina Sarbu.

Bucharest Jazz Orchestra is the only private big band with permanent activity in Romania. Established in February 2012 at the initiative of trumpeter Sebastian Burneci, BJO enjoys a rich activity on the stage of Romanian jazz and collaborations with major genre names. In 2015, the orchestra’s debut disk appears, Stories from Bucharest, presented to the local audience through a national launch tour, followed by a series of concerts at the festivals and clubs in Romania.

With an artistic career of more than 17 years, Irina Sarbu has been successful on jazz stages in parallel with her acting studies, being the most expressive young jazz soloist. The soloist collaborates with many well-known jazz artists, such as Andrei Tudor, Puiu Pascu and Marius Mihalache, but she is also part of the Ethnotic Project group, with whom she creates the Seven Stairs album, an exceptional music project.

The 7-year anniversary of the BJO brings to the attention of the amateurs of the genre two new live products, Tail Hunt and Urban Sky Swing, alongside Irina Sarbu. The themes of the new materials are inspired by the urban environment, sprinkled with individual or collective experiences of the members of the ensemble, translated into musical language.

The Jazzin' NTB programme is presented in partnership with The House Production.

The composition of the BJO, led by Simona Strungaru: the saxophone alto (Paolo Profeti), the saxophone tenor (Diana Suciu), the baritone saxophone (Marcel Pascu), the trumpet (Sebastian Burneci, Silviu Groaza, Laurentiu Moise), the trombone (Florian Radu, Adi Cojocaru), trombone bass (Cristi Labus), piano (Johnny Bica), bass (Adi Flautist), battery (Adi Tetrade).
