A lyrical farce in three acts, of a profound and touching humanity, the comedy The Sicilian captures with much humor the stratagem that our characters, chess pieces on the chessboard of destiny, orchestrate. Fifi and Bebe, recent graduates - she of Medicine, he of Agronomy - believe that the only chance to triumph over the policy of distribution, which announces a future in the countryside, would be to tie a marriage of convenience enough to fool the eyes of the system, but not the hearts of their real partners: Tiberiu and Muki. But once the game begins, each move opens doors to surprising worlds. Chess! And checkmate!

Toma Enache:

"It's incredible how humorous Aurel Baranga's comedy The Sicilian is, more than 50 years after the tremendous success of its Bucharest premiere. As then, people are still pieces on the game board of life and love, regardless of the political system that governs us. Baranga has this science of subtlety of words, meanings and humor. To this sparkling comedy, I add the joy of working with an extraordinary team of actors. I start with the "parents" Corina Danila and Adrian Paduraru, two actors that I love and appreciate, who put their experience and talent into this show, together with the young and talented actors that I chose from over 250 casting participants (Vlad Vilciu, Ana Vîlcu / Iulia Bibu, Georgiana Ionescu / Teodora Daiana Pacurar, Dani Ionescu, Emanuel Varga). The Comedy The Sicilian has the scent of nostalgia for the old Bucharest, for which all of us who have been caught in the capital's clutches yearn. Imagine what it would be like if, after graduating from university, you had to go somewhere in the country, in a village forgotten by the world, far away from family, friends and, above all, far away from the charm of Bucharest."
