On 23rd September 2018, from 8.00 p.m. we invite you to the open-air Amphitheatre Hall on the NTB roof to the concert – show Cineacordeon Emy Dragoi & Medeea Marinescu – from silent movie to musical.
Cineacordeon is a project of well-known accordionist Emy Dragoi, who proposes to the audience, within a complex show, a musical journey commenced in the era of silent movies and the brilliant actor Charlie Chaplin, which then arrived to scores of famous modern cinematographic creations.
In the first part of the show, using the projection of the first silent short films of the brilliant Chaplin, but also his musical themes, Emy Dragoi improvises jazzistically on his customized accordion, on the cinematographic rhythm of the sequences unfolding on a screen. The result is filled with emotion, charm and humour, surprising through the “consonance live sound – archive image” and giving the impression of the film’s prolongation onto the stage or the musician’s participation in the film.
In the second part of the show, Emy Dragoi and his accordion are joined by famed actress of the National Theatre, Medeea Marinescu – one of the ”child prodigies” of Romanian film – who has meanwhile become one of the most cherished theatre and film actresses of her generation. From this moment on, the curtain is lifted symbolically towards the world of musical score and the musical themes bearing the signature of renowned composers, from Charlie Chaplin to Michel Legrand or Francis Lai. You shall recognize tunes from the films Casablanca or Smile, but also from the Romanian films Freckles or Maria Mirabela.
Cineacordeon unveils a conquering musical universe to the spectators, as it happens with each of the musical incursions bearing the artistic signature of performer and composer Emy Dragoi.
