Critics' Award (in memoriam) Ion Caramitru – iconic Shakespearean actor
Within the Shakespeare International Festival from Craiova, in a festive setting, Mr. Ion Caramitru – iconic Shakespearean actor for his anthological creations Hamlet, Romeo, Ferdinand, Feste, Pericles, Edward III, Macbeth, Prospero, Shylock was awarded the Critics' Award (in memoriam) by the International Association of Theatre Critics – Theatreology, in partnership with the International Association of Theatre Critics (AICT / IATC).
The ceremony was presented by Laudatio Ludmila Patlanjoglu - Honorary President (AICT - Theatreology), George Banu - Honorary President and Jeffrey Eric Jenkins - President (AICT / IATC).
The award consisted of a diploma and a precious gift from Mount Athos - the Icon of Our Lady "Pantanassa" (Empress of All).
The family sent a touching message to those who made possible this moment of remembrance of the actor's lifelong dedication to creating great Shakespearean roles.
